I itch. Everywhere. Not simultaneously.
I've yet to make any connections with triggers, but some times - at random times - various spots on my body itch to the point my scratching draws blood. Most of the time the itching is on the limbs (legs frequently), but often on the torso - generally around mid-section of my waist and stomach. When my arms are affected, it's my entire lower-arms, elbow down, and onto my wrists. When my legs get involved it's generally on the outside of my thighs or under and inside of my knee on my calves. My lower legs from the shins down to the ankles sometimes decide to play.
When I itch I get hives-looking bumps, however those arise after I scratch, not before. I've changed shower gels, soaps, laundry detergent, and water types, to no avail.
I was sun-burned last summer, along my back. The itching was SO SEVERE I went to the ER in fits of tears and boo-hoo crying. Nothing they gave me helped. I was given Demerol to put me out. Within 10 minutes I was up and itching and in an unbearable panic because of it. After several hours, Demerol, and other meds, they simply discharged me.
I've had blood work done and physical exams to no avail. I'm taking Hydroxyzine when the itchiness gets bad - side effect is, I go to sleep. Hard sleep. That's been affecting my work, as when I get an 'attack' the only relief is to take the day off and head home to sleep.
Anyone have anything like this in the past? It's been going on for years at various intensities.
Thank you for your ideas/comments/etc.
