A few talkbacks have been made for this show before, but it hasn't really gotten too many replies in the past. I've noticed that there seem to be quite a few fans of the show (myself included) here now than there were back then, so I'd like to try a talkback once more. It really is a pretty fun show if you give it a chance.

General Viva Pi?ata Talkback (Spoilers)

I?d like to check this series out, but unfortunately, my satellite doesn?t include The CW. Do you happen to know if 4Kids has any episodes of the series on their website? If they do, perhaps you could post a link; it might encourage people to check the series out and decide whether or not they want to tune in on Saturdays.

I missed most of the first part of today's episode, but I did get some more laughs from the second segment. Especially with Hudson singing the Hibernation song to make sure no one would wake up. Viva Pinata is a fun show to watch on a Saturday morning in my opinion.

"Party Parasite" was a so-so episode, but "Hibernation Nation" was great. I was laughing through pretty much the whole thing.

One thing I like about this show is how it's not afraid to create new settings. Nowadays, it's somewhat uncommon for comedic shows to take place in a variety of settings, but Viva Pinata does, and furthermore, does it well.

*sigh* This is probably one of the most underrated cartoons in recent years. If only more people watched it.

The one thing about Viva Pinata is that it's really nonsensical, but it's not overly hyperactive so that it gets annoying. It strikes the balance well and the jokes are generally pretty funny and there's a nice dose of subtle humor in between there.

Just as a heads up, as the show goes on it becomes more and more focused on Hudson. Almost every episode from here is centered around him. I don't really have any complaints about it, since there are some really funny episodes coming up, but you'll notice Fergy and Paulie get pushed out of the spotlight more and more.

Thanks. I watched several episodes of the series on that website, from both the first season and the second season, and I have to say that I was genuinely entertained. It’s difficult for me to explain, but I seldom laugh when I watch children’s animation; I don’t wish to give the wrong impression, as most of the animated programs that I love are designed for children, but the fact that I seldom laugh is something that I’ve noticed. However, when I watched this series, I was actually laughing throughout many of the episodes that I watched. This series is remarkable. When I first heard of it, I dismissed it as a lame attempt to make money due to the video game that it was based upon, but this series is really funny.

It’s such a shame that I don’t get The CW, but I’ll be sure to watch as many episodes as I can on the official website. Hopefully they’ll add the new episodes shortly after they air on television as well. If anybody else on this forum hasn’t seen the series yet, I encourage them to click on the link and watch some episodes as well.

General Viva Pi?ata Talkback (Spoilers)

I have conferred with D Dubbs and this talkback is now for the entire series, as sadly, “Viva Pi?ata” doesn’t seem to have enough fans on Toon Zone to keep a discussion alive that is based solely on the new episodes. I hope that this change in focus will permit more people to reply, as now both the characters and the episodes can be discussed, amongst other things. In an effort to further generate discussion, I will occasionally ask questions in hopes that people will post their answers and discuss those answers with other users.

Regardless, I have watched even more episodes since I last posted, but I’m afraid that I’m running out of episodes. As I’ve said, I don’t get The CW so I can’t watch the episodes on television, and 4K!ds hasn’t added an episode to their official website in nearly a year. However, I’ve watched 90% of the episodes that they do have and I’m hoping that they’ll get others added in due time. With that, I’ll ask a few rudimentary questions and post my own answers for them.

Who is your favorite character?

My favorite character is Hudson Horstachio, which should come at no surprise considering the fact that he’s in the avatar that I am currently using. I absolutely love the way that he was designed, in both appearance and personality; it would have been easy for the people who created him to inadvertently make him an unlikable character, as most clueless celebrities are unlikeable, but they did a remarkable job. Even with his excessive narcissism, he’s a very nice individual and he has remained loyal to his friends even though he could have easily abandoned them. I recall the episode “Whirlm With A Dream” where Hudson stood up for the whirlm when nobody else believed in him, in which he tried to train him and help him become a true party pi?ata. That’s class. That’s not a characteristic that celebrities usually have in animated programs. Hudson has his flaws, to be sure, but he’s a very likable character.

What is your favorite episode?

This is a tough one, since I’ve yet to see many of the episodes. However, for the time being, I’m going to go with “Wild Horstachios”. That was one of the first episodes that I watched and the entire scene about the tattoo cracked me up; I also loved the fact that Professor Pester’s invention actually worked exactly as he planned, which is quite a rare occurrence. There were several other scenes that I thought were amusing and this was one of the episodes that helped make me a fan of the series.

The episode that I haven’t seen but want to watch the most is “Candibalism”. I’ve read the episode description and it sounds like it would be very bizarre, which usually amounts to a very entertaining episode. I hope 4K!ds adds that one to their site.

Feel free to answer either of the questions that I posted, or both of them, but you’re also welcome to post your random thoughts about the latest new episodes and so forth.

Personally my favorite character is Franklin Fizzlybear. Mainly because he can't lie and he's an overall nice Pinata. True he has his selfish moments like all the other characters but, he's still very likable. Plus, he has a surfer dude voice and I have a weakness for those kind of voices. (Jude from 6teen, Chris from Total Drama Island, Mikey from TMNT etc.) I also really like the rest of the cast, their all very funny and interesting in their own way. :anime:

As for my favorite episode, I'm not really sure. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

General Viva Pi?ata Talkback (Spoilers)

I agree with you to some extent, as Franklin is fourth on my list of favorite characters behind Teddington, Paulie and Hudson. However, it?s hard to deny that his persona is less original than some of the other characters; I mean, we?ve seen a lot of surfers with the same New Age idealism over the years. However, his personality does allow for a wide array of plots to take place and I?ve enjoyed many of his episodes, particularly ?Mad Mongo? and ?Mirror Schmirror?. Unfortunately, some of his episodes are also my least favorite, such as ?Queen For A Day?. He?s certainly a nice character, as you?ve said, but sometimes he can come across as a living PSA.

However, I have noticed that he has actually lied at several points throughout the series, despite the fact that many episodes have relied on the fact that he absolutely can?t lie. The scene that comes to mind is from ?Hero?, when Franklin lied to his adoring public by claiming to be Rip Van Winkle. He may have been dressed as such at the time, but knowing how he has responded to situations in other episodes, he shouldn?t have been able to do that. A minor inconsistency, to be sure, but it?s something that I?ve noticed.

General Viva Pi?ata Talkback (Spoilers)

Hmm...my favorite character is probably Professor Pester and his hyperactive minions. It's amusing to see how their plans always fail. Plus, Pester has a great evil laugh. I look forward to this weekend's new episode, "To Catch a Pester," since he'll play a big part in it.

My favorite episode is probably "The Wraisins of Wrath." It was hilarious to see all the Pi?atas acting the opposite way they normally do, and I loved how Les actually got to talk for once.

I like Paulie and Fergie's constant attempts to escape going to parties. It's just hilarious that getting smacked with sticks is something every pinata on that island dreams of doing and is the status quo, yet they're the only two that really understand that it's exactly what it is...getting beaten to a pulp by kids with blunt objects. And I have to give kudos to the animation dept. for the ability to give the characters such hilarious and subtle facial expressions.

General Viva Pi?ata Talkback (Spoilers)

Yeah, though it’s not as bad for Paulie because he can use his tail in order to trick the candiosity meter into thinking that he’s empty, which gives him a free pass from the party circuit. Fergy, on the other hand, has to rely completely on evasion in order to avoid his pi?ata duties. Speaking of those duties, has it ever explained why pi?atas must go to parties? I have only seen one episode with the Big Boss, but he seems to run Pi?ata Island like a business even though it doesn’t seem like the pi?atas get much for getting beaten to a pulp.

Granted, the whole premise of the series is somewhat bizarre. I still find it amusing whenever a pi?ata gets wounded and the other pi?atas proceed to eat their innards.

Well, a limitless supply of candy is a pretty good trade off. ;)

The show does have a peculiar premise, but that's one of the reasons that makes it so interesting and fun.

I personally like "Les Saves the Day... AGAIN!" "Cocodile Tear's" "Mouse Flap" and "New Horstachio of a Different Color" Les one because it shows that Les is the smartest Pinata in town and I liked how everyone else didn't know about the volcano. Cocodile Tears was hillarious... my favorite line from that is "Guys... Put down the Cocodile... step away from the Cocodile..." the Horstachio one because that was my first episode, and one that I learned a tip for the game from (Blackberries and Daisy making a Horstachio a Zumbug). Mouse Flap because it funny seeing a Mousemallow trying to take down Franklin while Franklin seems to take down by accident.

As for Character it a tie between Les and Franklin Fizzlybear. Galagoogoo are cute to begin with, and Les not being backwoods stupid on this show, gains my respect, also I just like how he talks. Franklin just funny on how he is and that some of my favorite episodes seem to revolve around him.

Yeah I agree Fergie and Paulie's antics are one of the best parts of the show. :anime: I would like to point out that this show has some of the funniest face faults I've ever seen in a 3D animated TV series. They're just so freaking hilarious. :D And like you've mentioned the subtle expressions are also very well done.

Maybe this should be called a general Viva Pinata discussion thread, since it's not airing on TV anymore.

But, I have good news for us Viva Pinata fans. On February 10th, Shout! Factory will release the first Viva Pinata DVD ever!

It will have the first 5 episodes, each with 2 segments for a total of 110 minutes. It's MSRP will be $13.99.

General Viva Pi?ata Talkback (Spoilers)

That?s good news. It?s unfortunate that it merely contains a paltry five episodes, but it?s much better than nothing. I just wish 4Kids would add more episodes to the official website, as I watched all of them back in September and I haven?t been able to watch another episode since then. Their tentative schedule indicates that they?ll add the rest of the first season?s episodes on January 31st, but that?s quite a long time from now.

"Cocoadile Tears/Candiosity," "Queen for a Day/Chewnicorn in the Garden," "Legs/Horstachio of a Different Color," "Whirlm with a Dream/The Crush," and "Trojan Horstachio/The Pinatas Must be Crazy."

Hm, though the track listing on the site has only the first five segments instead of the first five episodes, but then again "The Pinatas Must be Crazy" is in the fifth episode, so.

Hopefully they add the rest of the second season to the site especially, since they only aired like half of it on TV, and having seen all of it on YTV I really thought it was great, even better than Season One.
