Just recently, I asked about some sores that had formed on me and now I'm back. Why? Because new and far wierder things are going on.

Now keep in mind that I'm a truck driver and didn't get much sleep in the last week. What's ore is that I was awake for over 24 hours, from 7:30am till around 3:00pm the next day. Not driving.

Anyhow, this morning, while helping to make some repairs to the truck, I kept getting head rushes everytime I stood up. Well, the last one was a doozy. Something very strange happend, like I've never had happen before. My head rush didn't just go away when I say down. In fact, it got worse and my eyes went crazy. It was as if they were looking in two different directions at once and my lips became numb. It was very weird.

I should also mention that my left pinky and ring finger have been numb for days. A week, maybe.

Stroke? Heart problems? My imagination? What do y'all think?

I would agree with Christine about going in to see someone right away. Although your symptoms could be the result of a dozen different minor things, they could be the result of something major. Best not take chances, especially given your very unhealthy lifestyle.

In terms of a person having a stroke--age does not matter. I had a stroke at the age of 37.

Go seek immediate care--if in fact you had a stroke or a tia (small stroke) these are warning signs of bigger events to come. You need to begin getting the proper care so that you do not suffer a major stroke with permenant disabilities.

Good luck and report back to let us know how you are doing.

You've got to be kidding. Right? I mean, true enough, my thought at the time was "could this be a stroke?", but I figured it was my imagination. That it was just a bad head rush like I've never had before. I'm 42 for crying out loud.

It seems I'm destined to wind up in the hospital as of late.

No, it really could have been, please go to ER and have it checked out. I don't want to scare you, but people younger than yourself have had strokes.

It could also have been something harmless..but let's not take that chance eh? If it was one, the earlier you get treated the better it is..it might be just a case of taking anti clotting agents and being monitored.

What is your lifestyle like otherwise..do you smoke/drink take any exercise, eat healthily?

Well, I hope it wasn't, cause if it was, I'm out of a career.

As for my lifestyle. Not too active. I still cut the grass with a psh mower because it's the only exercise I get. Being a truck driver, I don't get exercise anywhere else. I smoke a couple packs a day but I don't drink anything but coffee these days. But I do drink a lot of that.

Well, I guess it is safe to say you still have not gone to see a doctor. You are a typical man I am sorry to say--I can say this because I am married to one and he chooses to wait on everything. This man has bled out 4 pints of blood before I could convince him that "it is not going to stop bleeding on its own". Your next statement after something serious happens is "I should have listened to everyone's advice." Your health is not something to take lightly. You must take care of yourself. Do I sound like anyone familiar to you--maybe your wife, mother, sister or significant other? Good Luck and do the right thing.

Yes, I'm afraid you're right. I haven't gone to the doctor yet. Symptoms continue to be similar to those I read about. Headaches and the continued numbness in my fingers. Perhaps some mild numbness in my lips still. No new episodes, though. Still, I can't afford a hospital bill without insurance and it's just a real hard decision to decide to go.

a 'mini stroke' may have damaged a part of your brain that gives you feelings in your fingers. my father was having those, and he went to the hospital and they found out that 80% of his carotid (neck) artery was blocked. if he hadn't gone to the hospital and gotten diagnosed they said he had a 99% chance of a large clot busting loose and a 60% chance of being killed by it within 4 months (i am guessing the 40% would have left him paralyzed or unable to speak, or both).

i don't mean to scare you. and my dad ignored it for weeks, his EXwife actually finally yelled at him to go to emergency. i'm so glad he did, because that was in april of this last year and i might not have a dad right now if he hadn't.

he's doing fine now. on cholesterol lowering meds, blood pressure meds and a cleaned out artery.

he didn't even smoke. was active and just a tad pudgy.

Look at your own family history. do you have any relatives who died young of cardiovascular disease? even old? depending on lifestyle and heredity, these things can sneak up on you at a young age.

please get help. the money you pay for health care now will be made back because you will be able to WORK. if you let it go to long and it IS something serious and it progresses, you WILL lose your job, most likely have 10x the medical bills when something bigger happens, or even worse, lose your life.
