Gears of War 2 weapons?

How do you get weapons in the multiplayer (I don't have the game). I know you start with either the lancer or hammerburst. Do you also have a shotgun and sniper in your inventory when the match starts or do you pick those up?

During the match you can pick them up.

you start out with shotgun. And you pick up all the others during the match.

you start out w/ either hammerburst or lancer and shotgun is standard the rest of the weapons you have to pick up
