I have a 1986 Ford Fairmont. Automatic Transmission.
I noticed yesterday that something beneath the car is pushing up the console and area surrounding the gear stick.
I have determined that it can only be the gearbox, as now it's a bit difficult to get the car into reverse, drive, ect...and there is a space between the surrounds of the gearstick and the under workings of the car.
I have tried to push everything 'back down', but it is stuck there hard.
I cannot fix this myself ( being a girl with no mechanical knowledge ).
But - any ideas about what has happened?
And how much do you think it would cost to fix?
