Gear junkies, upgrade!

Gear junkies! We gotta have the latest thing, regardless of our practical need. How many PDAs have you owned? That is, including PDAs you've gotten rid of...

But actually if you consider the first SF4000 Casio, then the Casio 8000 "Boss", and then the Sharp Wizard, it's a total of 5 going back to 1987. First PALM was the 505 two and a half years ago, and now a T3. I'll think VERY carefully before going to OS6, but imagine I will sooner rather than later.

Hmm, I think you're right in not calling those PDAs, but just electronic organizers... I always thought of the Newton MessagePad as the first PDA. What do you think?

Having worked with "computers" most of my career, including a stint with H/P - I've had a wide collection of PDA's over the years -

HP 100LX
HP 200LX
HP Jornada 680
HP Jornada 820
HP Jornada 420
Newton 2000
Palm IIIx
Palm Vx
Handspring Visor
Handspring Visor Pro
Handspring Visor Edge
Palm m505
Palm m515
Palm T|T
Palm T|3

And how about the "REX" card - CF size card which sync'd with Jornada and/or desktop software.

I guess I'm in the fnagle category too. Use and support them at work.

I've had some casio "organizer" back in the 89 or 90 time frame - if that one counts.

HP95LX
HP200LX
HP 360LX
HP 620LX
Jornada 680
Jornada 820
Jornada 690
Jornada 720
Palm Pilot Pro (4 of them)
Palm Pilot Pro with III upgrade
Palm III
Palm IIIx (2 of them)
Palm IIIxe
Palm V
Palm Vx
Palm VII
Palm M505
Sony Clie
Compaq iPAQ 3650
Compaq iPAQ 3750
HP iPAQ 5455
RIM Blackberry RM957
Aether Blackberry 7210
HP iPAQ 2215
Handspring Visor
Handspring Visor Edge
TRG Pro
and Tungsten T

The rest I don't have anymore. . .

I did have a "museum" in my office at work with about a dozen laptops, from the IBM PS2/70 and Apple Portable (the first) and Compaq 286 Transluggable, through the 386, 486, pentium and up through pentium III laptops. I also had all my retired PDA's out on display.

Ah - but alas - corporate security doesn't allow this anymore - must be secured and locked up. So, I've given most of them away to a local school.

You know - I never did get one of the REX cards - always wanted one for my collection, but guess I won't. Just like the Newton I'll never get.

Hey, I had a Xircom REX as well... Really good idea, decent implementation, really bad marketing.

Wow, four with more than ten. That's insane, man.
