Gay themed movie

"Get Real" is a good film. However it does look very old fashioned these days in parts. The cottaging arena in this film is not truly retrospective of gay life style in my neck of the wooRAB as most of them are now closed.

"Beautiful Thing". This is probably one of the better ones. It reflects to me a bygone age of coming out. I reckon there should be a more modern film as this one is becoming rather dated.

"Eating Out" is a good film. It is about a straight man pretending to be gay in order to get the girl and the situations he gets himself into with this guy.

I prefer sort of prefer british films to american,

I mean, skins, shameless, etc are really in a different league to the likes of lost or desperate housewives me thinks :D

and I've seen Brokeback mountain and ....hmm i cant think of the other one i saw..

"Eating Out" is a good film.

"Too Wong Foo" & "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" are both great.

"Torch Song Trilogy" & also "The Broken Hearts Club" are also both amazing films!

and of course "Beautiful Thing" :)

Seconding A Beautiful Thing. And Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is a good laugh too.

A good American one is L.I.E., although it's not quite as cheery as the other two I've just mentioned. Great film though.

All of the above plus:

Big Eden (feelgood film)
24th Day - (gay kidnap thriller)
Urbania - (gay thriller)
The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green (so so gay comedy)
Cruising (Al Pacino gay serial killer thriller)

I agree with Beautiful Thing, Big Eden, 24th Day and The Broken Hearts Club.

One of my personal favourites is Latter Days but there is a heavy religious theme through it so it's not exactly lighthearted though it does have a good ending. It's one of my favourite films.

I have heard good things about Maurice, Presque Rien and Rock Haven but I haven't seen them myself yet so can't personally recommend :)

If you're okay with subtitles, you might want to watch Poltergay. It's French with English subs and quite possibly one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen in my life but also completely brilliant in a very strange way.

A really beautiful gay themed movie is Home At The End Of The World with Colin Farrell and Sissy Spacek. But the best one of all IMO is Brokeback Mountain.
