"Get Real" is a good film. However it does look very old fashioned these days in parts. The cottaging arena in this film is not truly retrospective of gay life style in my neck of the wooRAB as most of them are now closed.
"Beautiful Thing". This is probably one of the better ones. It reflects to me a bygone age of coming out. I reckon there should be a more modern film as this one is becoming rather dated.
"Eating Out" is a good film. It is about a straight man pretending to be gay in order to get the girl and the situations he gets himself into with this guy.

One of my personal favourites is Latter Days but there is a heavy religious theme through it so it's not exactly lighthearted though it does have a good ending. It's one of my favourite films.
I have heard good things about Maurice, Presque Rien and Rock Haven but I haven't seen them myself yet so can't personally recommend
If you're okay with subtitles, you might want to watch Poltergay. It's French with English subs and quite possibly one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen in my life but also completely brilliant in a very strange way.
A really beautiful gay themed movie is Home At The End Of The World with Colin Farrell and Sissy Spacek. But the best one of all IMO is Brokeback Mountain.
