Man the answers you can get on here. Hey I'm in DC area and you can go to Dupont Circle main place for bi/gay hangout. A lot of restaurants, bookstores, clubs, coffee shops etc. great place to just walk around and definitely while walking just hangout out at the fountain in the center of the circle a lot of times live bands play and stuff like that. Also, check the Washington Blade out local paper and yes it's online to see specific places especially for the ladies. Good luck and welcome!

Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, there is a few bars in every area. I am not gay, but a few of my friends are and they go every where.

The dupont circle area is a good place, i go there all the time and its really cool, they have bars and even ladies night so you should check it out.
