Gay Guys & Girls: Did you have to sleep with the opposite sex to know it...

...wasn't your cup of tea? I'm gay and I've been out since I was 16 (I'm 23 now). The way I am, I need to try things out. I'm more of a "seeing is believing" type of person. I knew I was gay from a young age onward, but I need to experience being with women. So while I actively acknowledged my attraction to men and had been with a few, I NEEDED to try sex with girls.

To date I had sex with two different girls, one of which I dated for a couple months. She knew I was attracted to men and didn't care. I had sex with a different girl first and even though the experience didn't feel "right" I tried it again with the second girl just to know for myself.

I haven't been with a girl in three years, but I'm glad I had my experiences and they helped me shape my confidence in my homosexuality. Does anybody else feel this way or am I a unique case?

Bisexuals are welcome to answer as well, but I find that they will have a hard time addressing the actual question since it pertains to exclusive homosexuality.
