Where are you seeing a new director listed for this movie? Seems to me they haven't tapped anyone to fill that position since Kevin Munroe and Lynne Southerland left (the former did so to work on the upcoming film adaption of Dylan Dog with Brandon Routh).
Also - the film has been written by a hand-full of people; including Paul Dini who's credited for the screenplay. The film wasn't envisioned by Munroe - I'm sure he had ideas about where he wanted to take it visually, but if they're still sticking to Dini's screenplay the film will likely retain the same general plot.
At this point I doubt the film will even get made - unless Astro boy hits it out of the park. IMAGI is treading a fine line with their cash situation (didn't anyone catch that they halted production on ALL of their films - including Astro, but a few months back because they ran out of cash?) and without a major distributer to back the film they're unlikely to find voice talent or a semi-medium profile director to work the film (Astroboy's got Flushed Away's director). They've been keeping a rather low profile on what actually is being done with Gatchaman - and it probably has a lot to do with the state of lirabo the company's future is in.
Obviously they want to sell the film to a distributer - and that's why posters and concept art for the film trickle out in an attempt to drum up interest; but unless the studio happens across some cash the movie simply won't get made.
