Hi, I am new to HealtrabroadoarRAB and would appreciate some advice on Gastritis please. I have had flare-ups of gastritis for several years and would like to find a natural remedy rather than have to resort to drugs. I have read alot about Mastic Gum but, before I take it would like to know if people who are allergic to pine resin (colophony), can take Mastic Gum. I obviously don't want to add to my problems if there is any connection with Mastic Gum and pine resin.

Not sure, do a quick research and i'm sure you will find the answer.
I don't think so because it is grown only in an island in Greece which
is called Chios and i don't think it's pine related, though you should
check it out. I myself recently heard about the benefits of mastiha
with gi problems. I will try some myself. At this point i think i will
try anything natural.

Hi an allergist could be asked, and the company that prepares it could be asked.
There seem to be only 3 things in common. One is they are both plants and therefore belong to the plant family and the other is that they are both evergreen. They both have resin but it seems it is a different type of resin. Everything else seems different, a different order, family, and genus. If a person wants to try something it could be watered and tried on skin to see if it irritates it if it does I would not bother putting it inside. Then 20 minutes later a whiff first far away and then close if it doesn't make a person cough. After 20 minutes a person might try a small lick if nothing happens then more. After 20 minutes it may be safe to try a pea size amount and slowly increase the amount after 20 minutes. If any symptoms are experienced in the process of this I would not bother with it again or any more.

Cabbage and cabbage juice is said to be good for gastritis and also how the stomach is taken care of makes a big difference. I would definately avoid things such as hot spices and meRAB such as ibuprofen which seem to cause an awful lot of people a terrible stomachache and maybe worse such as a perforation. Hope this helps.

Hi Fufu
Thank you very much for your reply...like you I will try anything for my GI problem and preferably natural (I hate taking the proton pump inhibitors which have loaRAB of nasty side affects). A lot of my problem I reckon stems from worry/fear and expecting something terrible to happen. If I could 'get to grips' with that and stress then I'm sure I wouldn't get the burning problem. I've tried various homeopathic remedies but to date have not found the right one. Good luck with trying the mastiha - I hope it works for you!
