Gas Prices...

To quote Bill Mahar, "I'm not saying Bush is responsible for the gas prices, but the Bush's are oil people, and if Col. Sanders was president and the price of chicken tripled, I'd be a little suspicious."

Gas has already dropped over 15 cents to $4.56 in the last two weeks.

They suspended the .08 a gallon tax to help, even though that tax has brought in stupid amounts of money for the state this year due to the increased price of gasoline.

Now the price of oil is declining, which some say is a bad thing due to economic reasons far, far over my high-school education, manual labor head. The only thing that gets me is why I get to drive 50 miles a day to work at a refinery where I get to watch Asian ships load up on our petroleum products while I'm paying $100/week in fuel just to work and back.

Just doesn't seem right.

I don't exactly know whats going on with the gas prices in america right now, but I heard that since they dropped the tax on gas, they just raised the price again. Stupid fuckers.

I live in San Diego. Gas prices peaked at a little under $5.00, but now that summer is over, the gas station next to my house is $4.23, which is cheap. There's definitely gas stations that have gas a little over $4.00, but none of those places take credit cards, so i don't buy my gas there.

$3.44 would be a fucking miracle here.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I really don't know if this is true or not) but I remember hearing, back when I lived in California, that all the gas served in California was mixed with ethanol, which made it cleaner burning, less efficient, and more expensive. There's a gas station down the street from where I usually live where half the pumps serve pure unleaded and the other half serves unleaded mixed with ethanol. The mixed gasoline is cheaper than the pure. IF what I was told about California gas is true, then why is the adulterated gas here cheaper instead of more expensive?

Price of Crude > Price of corn

Ethanol is dirt cheap to make, but compared to gasoline it only burns at 60% efficiency. Therefore you will come out worse in the long run from paying to refuel more often, and to fix the damage that the ethanol is doing to your engine.

On a small side note, I payed $3.549 for 93 octane in Murfreesboro, Tennessee yesterday, first time in months I've gotten a full tank of premium for under $65.
