Gas Milage Question

Okay, when does the fuel light come on for everyone?
Mine always comes on at 100mi and I've pushed it to 120 before.
Here is the real pisser, I fill up and I've never had to put more than 3.1 gallons in and doesn't this bike have a 4.1 gallon tank?
So why has this bike and everyone I've had prior have a 60% gas warning light?
I dont want to say screw it, I'm good til 150 and get hosed, you know?
 
Might help to include what bike you're riding. My 1198 light comes on any where between 80 and 100 miles, depending on the ride. I've gone 120-130 and had a little to spare, but not much. Typically if I go that far it's a 3.8gal fill up. I sure wouldn't push to 150 unless I had no choice.
 
my 848 gas light comes on anywhere from 80-100 miles and the most i've ever put in it when filling up is 3.1 gallons..most of the time i can only fit like 2.8..thats always puzzled me too...
 
2007 1098 for everyone's knowledge.
So I'm not the only one with this minor annoyity. This frustrates my buddies who think I'm lying because I'm the only smoker. They think I'm just wanting to stop and smoke!
 
The fuel light on my monster S4rs comes on around 100 miles or so depending on how I'm riding. I can usually eak it out to 120-130 miles or so. My 848 was a bit better but I can't remember exactly what it was. Track fuel mileage sucks!
