gas leak

I filled my bike up after a ride and then parked her in the garage. The next morning gas had leaked out of the little thing that screws into the gas tank on the bottom of the tank. Is there some sort of a valve that is supposed to leak when the tank is overflowed or what?
 
There is an overflow hose connected to the fill neck, but should drain underneath the bike. If your referring to the pitcock under the left side of the tank you have a real leak issue to deal with.
 
Like stated the overflow hose directs the extra gas under your bike. If it is the tank fuel line quick connect fitting, maby try taking it off the tank and re installing, might just be not attatched properly, also maby try re tourqing the check valve to 22-26 ft-lbs. Otherwise expect about $50 for a new fuel line and quick connect fitting.
 
Be careful with the quick-connect fitting. If it is an EFI bike it is under 58 psi of pressure downstream of the fuel pump, so you'll need to purge it first. The procedure for this is in the service manual, which on my '07 is to remove the EFI fuse, crank the bike and let it run 'til it quits, then crank for a few more seconds. If you release the quick-connect fitting without purging the lines you should have a towel surrounding the area, as otherwise gas will likely go everywhere. I haven't done this so I don't know if even a towel is sufficient.
 
Never sprayed on me. As soon as you take off the quick connect fitting it stops the gas flow from the tank and from the fuel supply line. I have at most had a few drops of gas come out of the check valve.? But it is allways smart to follow the manual directions.
 
Also if it is the quick disconnect under the tank, I have found it to be allot easer toi just replace the tank side as it has o-rings in it and the Ethanol will eat them up, and i had a hard time just finding the o-rings.
 
last year I developed a gas leak on my 2003 FI EG when i was on my trip. I was sure as was a technician at a Winnipeg dealer that it was coming from the petcock area. Turns out it was coming from one of the screws hold and or the fuel filter/filter assembly gasket. Only became obvious after we took off the centre console. The screws that hold the assembly in place have a special seal attached to them. I have heard but canot verify that the design has been changed, but worth a look
 
Boy do I wish! I have the same prob and went to the dealer today to get the part. Part# 61470-99 Fuel Line Kit, Supply & Fitting cost me $112 +tax
 
Mine was leaking on the springer. Turned out to be a bad o-ring inside the tank. Dealer fixed it, under warranty, thank goodness.
 
Yeah I just came from the garage and it looks like my problem is in the tank as well; leaking check valve. I pulled the fuel supply line off and gas just kept draining, unlike what the service manual says that the CV will stop it...hmm, back to the dealer tomorrow for another a$$ rape on part$
