Garth Brooks was, is, and always will be the greatest country singer

A downer? WTF?

Sure, alot of Cash's later works are very heavy and sad. But many of his early works were uplifting and happy.

Maybe you just like an excuse to be an alcoholic?

My first exposure to Dwight Yoakum was when the Honky Tonk man used to come running down the aisle and imitate Elvis holding a guitar, while they boomed "I'm a honky tonk man" over the sound system in the old WWF.

get the mentioned ones,

get "Picture"

"Naked Women and Beer" by Hank Jr has Kid Rock playing the music

There are more, but they get further from being country
