I got a Garmin Nuvi 200 for Christmas. After one use the screen says "No detailed maps found that support routing. The Nuvi cannot be used without them" I can't get past that screen. I tried calling customer service and after waiting a half hour was told that I had to talk to the tech dept. and that would be at least another hour on hold!? I'm considering taking it back. It was purchased at Walmart - I never shop there, they sell crap and this is another example. I suspect that the unit was made in China with pirated software and when it connected to the satellite the jig was up so it 'turned into a pumpkin'. Help!
chogopui didn't read the whole question. The device worked. The maps were obviously in it. It was used for an hour / 25 mile trip then it crashed. There was no cable in the box to connect it to a computer, just to the cigarette lighter to power it.
There was no CD included with the device either.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 200W and it works just like what GPS should. Did you go and look at the site <www.garmin.com> and see if you can get your problem fix? I believe you should be able to download map updates online. I am not a Walmart shopper but one thing about the stores is that they guarantee 100%.
