Garfield's Funfest

I had a chance to sit down and watch this finally last night and I was surprised I liked it pretty well. I didn't enjoy Garfield Gets Real all that much because it just seemed too dumbed down and unfunny, but this one improved on that a little bit. I know when the first one came out a lot of people complained about Garfield's lips moving when he talks and I was kind of okay with it because for some reason they all live in cartoon-strip world now. I don't really understand why Garfield can move his lips and talk but Odie still just makes grunts and sounds...which is why i really think they should've left things the way they were.

Another thing I don't get is why they felt they had to make these DTV's specifically for children and why a lot of the jokes are ridiculously stupid and not funny. Maybe it's not fair to compare them to Garfield & Friends but I loved Garfield & Friends as a kid and still do as an adult. It never played down to little kids for cheap laughs, they just made the show funny and enjoyable. But oh well I thought it was pretty good and I'm really looking forward to the Pet Force DTV.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that Frank Welker really does a great job as Garfield here. Initially it was kind of a shock to the system not hearing Lorenzo Music's voice coming out of Garfield, but I think Welker really nailed the character.

Edit button, DarkKnight. Edit button.

Also, I wasn't aware of another Garfield DTV, but I guess that explains the recent airing of the Garfield Gets Real thing on CN. Eh, it seems CN's only airing animated movies pretty much solely as tie-ins to other stuff nowadays.
