Gantz Live-Action Films

Hey-o! Didn't see a thread for this yet. If I'm late, then merge away, moRAB.

Wow! I've always thought this was a series that could easily make the jump to Live-Action. And it's based on the Manga too! I'm pretty excited about this one.. I hope the films get licensed over here after they're released, what with the current state of ADV and all.

Yeah, I can't imagine anyone thinking this would be a good idea for any reason but big breasted manga and anime women in skin tight rubber and just as often nothing being turned into big breasted real women in skin tight rubber and just as often nothing. If they decide to cut down on that aspect of Gantz, that would leave no reason for anyone to think this would be a good idea.

Correction my good man:

Yes, I would like to see big breasted women in skin tight rubber killing aliens.

I don't want to see the aliens wearing skin tight rubber; I want to see the big breasted women wearing the skin tight rubber.

... unless, of course, we're talking about hot, big breasted alien women (Star Trek style).
That would work just as well.

Im just wondering how their going to fit 26 volumes of Gantz and whatever is still left to be told in the manga into just 2 movies.... Speaking of recent manga events, the giant Mecha that just appeared will be weird seeing in live action, if they can pull those off at all.

Must the whole manga be included in the movie?
Can't they just pick a couple of the good chapters and role with that?
Or even, dare I say, just have an original plot written for the movie?
(Gantz is a really, really cool anime, but this isn't exactly the Bible or Koran we're talking about.)

And who said anything about only two movies?
Two movies are planned - but if this thing makes money, I suspect there will be more to come.
Or even an actual Hollywood adoption. (Which may or may not be a good thing.)

then why even call it Gantz?, it should just be a movie that isn't Gantz if your not even going to bother to follow the plot.

I'm speaking very broadly.
Obviously they should follow the basic premise, and keep the characters and their personalities intact.
But surely we shouldn't be so narrow minded as to think they must follow the manga exactly, and try to incorporate all 26 volumes into a couple of films.

Batman and Ironman didn't follow their respected sources exactly either, right?
Now, in Batman's case, we got to see both sides - some bad adaptions, some good ones.
So what makes a good adaption then?

Well, the lesson isn't that you must stick with the exact plot of the original source.
The lesson is keep the spirit of the original source alive - respect it - but also realize you are making a different project.
So you shouldn't be too worried about keeping it as the original or changing some things up a little.
Obviously it is best to stick to the original plot as best you can, but in the end, as long as it is entertaining, who cares?

Besides, as Unwardil mentioned before, "Big breasted women in tight rubber killing aliens."
I'm not too worried if they keep in the 'Spring Onion' aliens or not.

noyinoyiii....
They really should stick with trying another Animation adaptation. Because I can't picture this going to live-action. Especially with the SFX and Actors that Japan has...which is very low IMO. >_>;;

Heck, they could even try a full CGI.
