Wow. So far I think the group, public transportation, and call the cops ideas are the best. I lived in a place where these gang members tried to recruit us, when I was 8, because I had porn. They said they were going to have a gunfight against the Blood Gang. They were like 15. What fucking dumbasses. Anyway, call the cops dude. And hope to god they don't try to do it again. If the neighborhood is that bad move. If you have to defend yourself, get a gun and self defense lessons. But don't pull a gun unless you absolutley have to. And only pull it if you are going to use it.

How about you lie to them. Instead of saying no, you distract them. Make up a story about a friend that works at wal-mart or something. If they make you go to wal-mart then just walk to the back and call the cops.
I also say get a gun. Make sure you practice using it on a weekly basis so as not to really pull out the gun and get blown away cuz you didn't take the safety off or the gun jams because it got dust in it.
Moral of the story. Make friends not enemies. If you treat them like shit, you might get shot, but if you treat them like real friends and not that bullshit movie stuff where they know your lieing, then they will not mess with you.
Or, move away.
this reminds me of an event that happened to my brother and I.
"We were walking out of a gas station and going to go to blockbuster to rent some video games when all the sudden these two little kids who are about 12 to 14 come up to us and ask us something that had to do with guns. My brother was like, "fuck yea let's do it. So he tells me to follow him and we turn around to head for our house. Right as I turn around I see all these kids in the park right across the street, running around with shotguns and shit. It turned out that there was some sort of a gang or some shit that was going to throw down and they wanted us to side with them or get shot. So, we are turning to head home and I noticed that they were sort of watching us. I decided that we should take a "detour" that was 5 blocks off of where we lived since we lived literally half a block from where they met up with us. My brother had told them that they we would join up with 'em and throw down. It was the first time that by him lieing actual good came of it. We could have been easily blown away. freaking easily."

A friend of mine was dealing drugs for his dad in some small town. Some guy came up and wanted to buy some. They go into an alley to make the deal. The guy pulls a knife and demands my friend's money. My friend slowly puts his hand in his pocket, grabs a gun his dad gave him, and shoots the guy twice in the legs.
He ended up with a few months in juvie for a concealed weapon.

Okay, this is what the little bastards prey on. The fact that you make yourself a target by allowing them to do this in your neighborhood. Now i am a confident and cocky sum-bitch. I personally would have laughed at them. I would have tried to disarm the gun if i thought it was possible and then i would have shot them with it.
Next time it happens, tell them to get fucked. And as stupid as it sounds, let them kick the shit out of you. The thing with most gangsters is, they dont want to shoot you. And if they do, then they have already decided before you have been approached or picked out. The important thing when facing a gun is... A. Dont resist even if they kick the shit out of you. B. Never allow yourself to be a victim. Its the old bully senario... if you let them do what they want, then they will do it. If you put up an intelligent fight they will move on to easier prey.
I suggest getting at least some form of protection. A taser works wonders. Its small, is compact and will take down anyone. It immobilizes them instantly. In most cases it will work through clothing. If you taze the guy with the gun the other two will run. When he lets go of the gun, pick it up and shoot the fleeing suspects. And if you do decide to do anything with a gun... make sure you kill them.
Get your community involved. Most of the problem is everyone is too scared to do anything.
And before you guys get all pissy and everything... i lived in brooklyn projects for a good while. And being a white guy, it was not that pleasant. The thing that i learned was that if i let those bastards do something or say something to me without a retort... then they knew they could fuck with me. I'm not saying to curse them out and tell them you'll whip the shit out of them or anything... but always stand your ground.
The way i look at it is what point is there in life if you live in fear? Use good judgment and notice all situations. when going anywhere by yourself... always have some awareness of the situation. Dont allow people to sneak up on you... walk in the light... and try to be near the public. Always have a "this is where i'll run" thought in your head.

Yeah, guns are a real problem in the States, as well as they are a benefit. I live in the U.K and there are virtually no shootings, but it's not fair 'cause what the fuck is one supposed to do when he/she's confronted by a butch fucker or a gang?? You can't even have fuckin' pepper spray!! The law states that you must use "reasonable force". Example, burgular breaks into your house and they expect you to say: "Uh, mmmm hmm... exuse me, sir. Would you mind leaving my property immediately before I call the police?" And then the cops come 15 minutes later and yer dead or injured on the ground. Get it??
