Well, let me start out with a link to the laptop. http://www.shopping.hp.com/series/category/notebooks/dv7tqe_series/3/computer_store?jumpid=in_r329_personalization/browse1/home_SDP

About half of the reason i got this laptop is for gaming, the other half for everyday use like homework, web browsing, etc. I won't get it until christmas but i was wondering about it's processor. I read that it is a very good processor but at 1.6Ghz that doesnt sound very impressive. It also mentioned turbo boost that brings it to 2.8ghz, and i was wondering how to use that. Is this laptop good for gaming? Also, should i buy a cooling pad for it (i am only wondering if it is highly suggested, yeah i know its good to have one for pretty much all laptops)
I may as well add that the computer has 4gb of RAM, 500GB Harddrive, and a 1GB Video Card :D
It is also 17.4" screen, idk if that helps any but just trying to give detail of it.

The first thing to look for in a gaming laptop is a discrete graphics card from ATI or Nvidia – currently the only two manufacturers that produce high-end graphics solutions. Integrated varieties such as Intel’s GMA are very common, cost-effective and power efficient, but practically useless for modern 3D games. Gaming laptops are usually larger than the average notebook and come with a 15-inch or larger screen, but there are exceptions. ....Good Luck

one thing you need to know is that this laptop in my thought may not last as long as others. its that the i7 is new and laptops are not good with fast hot processors. so for a few more years pc laptops mostly might have probems down the road. im waiting for i7 macbook pro. the turbo will really chew up the battery in no time and make it extremely hot. so a pad is a good i dea get a good one. but as for gaming this is not a good pc. the pc has a gt230m thats pretty low end. for gaming specs. it will not be able to play in high resolutionand deatail. and newer games wont play at any good specs xbox would look better. if you want a gamer pc get asus i tink its called g51 a2 look it up it has gtx260m very good gpu. but its only dual core 2.53ghz. but for now and a couple years that will be good at games.
