for the gameboy color you need a gameboy color link and and for the sp you need a gameboy advanced link cable the game boy color link cable is compatible with the sp becuz it can play gameboy color games but you cannot use game boy advanced games with gameboy color games (example:trading Pokemon Gold and Silver version to Pokemon Ruby Saphire or Emerald)its not compatible wut so ever
