Retailer GAME has issued a statement addressing the delay of Ubisoft's Watch Dogs and the impact it will have on PlayStation 4 bundles.
ZoomSpeaking to CVG, Charlotte Knight, category director at the specialist retailer, said it will be contacting pre-order customers affected by the delay to discuss alternative options.
"What we've seen so far of Watch Dogs has wowed both critics and gamers and there is huge anticipation for everything this new IP will bring," she said.
"Ubisoft are absolutely committed to delivering a first-class gaming experience and so they have pushed back to a spring 2014 release date - they want make sure every detail of the game is as perfect as possible."
"We are working very closely with Ubisoft and Sony on what this means for our customers. We will be emailing customers who have pre-ordered a PS4/Watch Dogs fixed pack with us in order to find the best option for them. We will also be emailing all Watch Dogs software pre-orders customers to reassure them that their pre-order is secure for 2014. We will do everything we can to get the right product to every customer."
Ubisoft delayed all versions of Watch Dogs until some time around Spring 2014. The game had been previously confirmed for release on November 19 in North America and November 22 in Europe for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. PS4 and Xbox One versions were to be available alongside the launch of the next-generation consoles.
When asked about the impact the delay, a Sony spokesperson told CVG: "Obviously this is very recent announcement, but we will be working very closely both with Ubisoft and with our partners at retail to manage this situation."
Retail chains Amazon and GameStop have also assured PS4 pre-ordered customers that that they will still get their console on time.
