As the future of Game\Gamestation is unknown at the moment (chances are they will go into administration)

Anyhow shopto.net will always have my back !

Just got this little nugget in an email from shopto... Bless they really must care about me

It's the bit in bold that gets me lol

They make it sound like nobody but shopto has it available...

Here's the full statement from Capcom:

GAME not stocking Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City | Games industry news | MCV

I am surprised - I often go in for a browse but rarely pay their ridiculous prices - as every time I am in the shop there are huge queues. Not only that, but they must be making an absolute killing in the second hand market - most of the shop is pre-owned games, with new games probably taking up less than 25% of the store. Every sale of a pre-owned game = 100% profit to the shop.

Think I have some credit on my gamestation card...time to use it up!

The one here in Newark is always rammed and the guys behind the counter are really nice. Shame really as once again it's the guys at the front line that suffer!!

I did think a few weeks ago that there was a problem as they were running a 4 for £20 section which suddenly disappeared.....

Also yes they must make a killing on second hand as they pay bottom dollar for second hand and sell it at close to retail!!

Be interesting to see how the prices of new games will be affected on the highstreet and online after two of the big players go out of business.

That just leaves hmv, blockbusters , grainger games and the supermarkets on the highstreet for me.

So the choices are less so they can all jack the prices up due to supply\demand

I dont think game were competitively priced enough for it to make a difference tbh.

I can see CEX taking a hit when theres less games going into there stores to be traded though. Either that or they'll be able to jack prices up.

They just can't compete in the stores anymore, not when even the supermarkets (aside from the online markets) are undercutting them on prices when the big names are released i.e. ASDA was selling the last CoD I brought a fiver cheaper than anywhere else I could find.
Now the 'casual' gamer doesn't even need a console when their smartphones sell games for a few quid, i.e. GTA on Android is £3.

I'm very interested to know how far the gaming industry will go in future in terms of cutting out the 'middle-man' via downloadable content.

I think looking at the way the pc does it is a good indication of the way things will go, steam and origin type platforms are the future imo. A lot of high street stores have all but stopped selling pc games altogether and steam is thriving, the best thing to happen to pc gaming apart from the introduction of the internet into the home.

Shame consoles are so 'locked down', i understand why they are but still annoying for prices nonetheless.

Very sad for people who will lose their jobs if game go under but other than that good riddance, the quicker brick and mortar game stores die the better (or at least ones that have power over the publishers)

article in the paper today said that game have put themselves up for sale today, in a bid to raise money to pay there 1/4 'ly rent of a staggering £14million....................... if nobody is found to buy in 2 weeks they will enter administration and 10,000 jobs at risk

10,000 jobs at risk crikey, they should do away with one of the companies and perhaps expand to re-employ staff.

Every Game store i have seen all have a Gamestation virtually on it's doorstep.

What's ironic here is that a few years ago in Epsom, there was an independent game store called "Gamesroom". Run by a woman who had obviously ploughed everything she owned into the shop. I remeraber her mentioning that one of the new games that came out at the time was priced so cheaply on release, she was worried she was going to go out of business. (I think the game was the original Driver so we're taliking some time ago now). She managed to keep her head above water until Game opened up in the Ashley centre not 200 yarRAB physically from her shop - she couldn't compete and closed shortly afterwarRAB.

Two years later, Gamestation opened up in the High Street in Epsom and I had a day off work so I went to the opening morning. The first thing I saw was the manager of Game in there reading back all the prices over the phone back to his shop half a mile away!

I've often wonderded what happened to the lady who would always give an extra couple of quid on a part ex game 'cos you were a loyal customer. Game has since closed down in Epsom (whilst Gamestation is still there) but I've never ever given a thought to what happened to the arragant git of a manager who wouldn't exchange my sons Pokemon RAB game that was cracked and wouldn't play because he bought it in the Sutton branch...what goes around I'm afraid...
