Gadget Show Appalling Tonight ...... Again

I gave up watching it a few series ago. Just fed up with the overly scripted and often pointless "challenges" and the "this weeks prize is the biggest yet" snooze.
I felt the chemistry between Jason and Suzi was great but in the end it just wasn't enough.
Wish it could be a just a bit more serious - more like the BBC's Click
 
Another week, another thread started slating The Gadget Show. Frankly it wouldn't be a Monday on RAB without it.

It seems whilst the naysayers are clearly unimpressed with the show in it's present state, they haven't stopped watching either. And that's all Channel Five are worried about.

I agree the show could be a lot better, but it's not as bad as people are making out. The reviews need to be more thorough and some of the sillier challenges need to be cut back and replaced with more tech.
 
I had thought the nadir of TGS came a couple of years ago, in their infamous 'all HDMI cables are the same' experiment. Sadly, two weeks ago I watched them group test some HD projectors, and they decided that the only man who could definitively rate the equipment was...Alan Parry. Because they were using a football BluRay as a test disc. and he's, erm, a football commentator.

Beyond embarrassing.
 
Awful show but at least the many Apple plugs keep coming including

1) presenter checking out photos on a Ipad which was unrelated to what was being taked about

2) Many random shots of Apple laptops during the bit about web safety

3) The i phone being the 3rd best home fitness gadget

Am i shocked no, is this product placment going far too far YES!

I have no doubt missed some as i fast forwarded 80% of the show.

Also somebody neeRAB to explain that the broadband providers can't get rid of the word up to as it id describing the product.To go from saying something is upto 20 mb to saying it is 20mb would take them into the remls of a lie. What they should be aiming is for ISP's to include an average speed in the advert say upto 20mb but the average user gets 4.5mb or whatever.
 
How many other shows rate projectors? I thought it was interesting if only for it being a demonstration of a real world reaction test by a normal person. People who get upset by it are afraid others are too dim to just take it for what it is. Its not definitive, but so what, are you running to the store to buy things off the gadget show recs anyways? Its just a gadget porn show.
 
Maybe I'm imagining it, but the current series feels different to me. The number of episodes per year has gone up, and such content as they have has been diluted further. Some of the challenges have dropped all pretence of relevance; they are just, "we thought it would be fun to blow stuff up so we did."
 
I record it and skip about 50 minutes of it now. Just watch gadget review and occasionally review of best out of 3 devices

Last week deleted the whole episode of gadget as it was a whole stupid challenge again its boring

It use to be great show and they ruined it last series with constant challenges
 
The main channel isn't in HD. Yes, there's a HD channel, but not everything is made in HD these days.

Not only that but exactly how would HD improve this programme? In other worRAB, lack of HD is no real loss in this case.

HD is not the be all and end all, you know. We've managed for decades without it :rolleyes: :( :mad:
 
I doubt it because they probably don't pay attention to this particular thread and the few people who whinge about it every week.

They probably pay attention to the ratings it consistently gets
 
Nope. Me too. Mostly :) I'll skip the odd bit now and again; like this week's feature on 3D which is completely irrelevant to me.

But I'll usually watch most of it.
 
Well I like her, I think she brings a lot to the show, warmth empathy...........and she squeezes onto the sofa nicely.

Plus she is very very very good at her job.....and hit;):D
