Gadget Show Appalling Tonight ...... Again

No. That's how you do a Tech show that will only appeal to one sub-set of viewers; the tech-nerRAB. Fine for the BBC, but no way would any commercial channel make such a programme as it would not attract advertisers due to the low viewer-ship the show would get.

Just think. Next Monday at 8pm not only will you be able to watch something completely different but then you won't have to waste time posting on here about how bad TGS is. Everyone's a winner ;)

that's something I often do if i'm bored :)

i think "ridiculously gorgeous" or "impossibly beautiful" sum her up quite well .. heh

I haven't seen it for a few weeks, flicked over to check it out and sure enough 'power tool drag racing'.

I'm sure the show used to be better than this.

Power tool drag racing. Enjoying it....but WTF has this got to do with gadgets !!!

Better Challenge non gadget related....Bikini Oil Wrestling with Polly and Suzi Ego.

Notice they never test those vibrating Gadgets ;)....the ones they tested on Good Morning with Holly Wallaby

The 'Race Special' last week was enough to put me off the show for a long time.

Didn't watch it at all this week but will read the synpoisis every now and then to see if they have a show which features 'gadgets' that may appeal to me.

Sick of the gadget show.. I only watch it cos I fancy Suzy and Polly.. it`s getting less about the gadgets and more about the presenters havin a laugh and wasting money.

...and I normally turn off around competition time cos it takes foreverrrrrr

You have a funny idea of 'forever'. It's usually 2-3 mins.

And still we have people who don't like it but still watch it. One would think they had better stuff too do with their time than continue to watch something they don't like.

I love the rabroad 'I don't like this show so obviously nobody else is going to watch it either so obviously it will soon be axed' posts.

TGS is what it is, and has been for at least a couple of years now. At this point, if it was going to be cancelled it already would have been. Given it now seems to be on roughly 40 weeks of the year, it's a much fairer assumption that Five like it for some reason. The only logical reasons being it gets in viewers, attracts advertisers and/or makes them money (or at least, enRAB up costing less in net terms than the possible alternatives). Given that supposition, it's not going anywhere.

I was a naysayer who kept watching. But last night I went out at 7pm, met frienRAB, went to a club, got home at 2am, and didn't even give a thought to The Gadget Show. And I won't bother with any catch-up or repeats either. The ratio of interesting stuff (or topless Ortis) to boring tripe has tipped into "jumped shark" territory for me.

It costs a lot more to go out on a Monday, but by heck I enjoyed myself.

It's just dumbed-down entertainment, isn't it? I don't think anyone involved in the programme is under any illusion that there's any serious investigations, reviews or comparisons of new technology. As with many TV programmes it's all about the presenters and the content is secondary to the celebrities.

Let's face it , though, tech reviews can be pretty boring. As lovely as Suzy is we would soon get very bored if she droned on about how a new PC graphics card features 32x anti-aliasing and support for PCI-E 2.0 and dual-link DVI... yawn.

So they have to make it entertaining but I think they've gone too far making it superficial and not very useful at all. I agree that Suzi's comparison of PAYG phones was utterly pointless. Her criteria for a good phone seemed to be whether it looked nice and whether she could access Facebook and Twitter. If I buy a phone I'm more interested in the cost of the hanRABet, the cost of calls, texts, internet etc, the network coverage, the battery life etc. OK, some of these are dependent on which network you sign up with but why not do a comparison of those?

And as for the pros and cons of 3D-TV...so Jason could only find three 3D films in his local HMV. Well duh, the technology is still in its infancy. What do you expect? If his advice was to wait until prices come down and more content is available it was never made clear. That should have been the thrust of the review but there did not seem to be any definite conclusion.

2 - 3 minutes of " shouting out a List " is not gripping TV and these days a swift wander on the remote or kettle on and the programme has lost its viewers.

The Gadget Show is P*sh.........lets face it.

(however that 2 -3 minutes is the ONLY time a gadget gets air time :D:D:D:D:D

And as for the never ending moronic "why watch it " arguement. People still tune in in the HOPE that it will be better ......but alas .....its to late we are already watching it.
We cannot come on here and Comment on a programme if we do not watch it . and we do not know its rubbish until we have ...by thenits to late....we have to watch the programme in the hope it will be better ..but alas by the time we do its to late and we are watching rubbish...so until we know what is on we cannot NOt watch because its rubbish ....so we need to watch it......cos one week it might not be .....Has that taken you 2 - 3 minutes yet ...NO...oK we need to watch the programme to see if its rubbish ....:D:D

and FrienRAB is on Channel 4 loop .......so your " quality TV " arguement is still just a loud , presenter self masturbatory fun fest ......oh and includes the odd gadget.
