G1 Won't get past Android screen after applying 1.5 manually

once your phone is working, and synched,go to gmail on pc and copy contacts to pc as .csv file. you'll never have to worry again. it should be standard practice, but noone does it. and,if your phone was in a running state before you applied this update, how do you have unsynched contacts? maybe i'm just having a blonde moment, but i don't get it. even though i'm not blonde. ok, maybe you have synch turned off and do it manually? shame shame lol.

if wiping it down is the last option for you than i would consider it because thats the only way you gunna have a successful update of cupcake, and your contacts will be sync, dont let that stop you...

Yeah, I synced contacts one when I wiped the phone, and turned sync off because I was having issues. I added some new contacts, and with sync off.. bam

well if you really dont wanna wipe your phone, than try once again to update your phone again, by going through the whole steps one more time...and see if you can get it this time heres the instructions just in case:

1. Rename the archive to update

2. Copy the file to the SD Card.
Note : Connect the phone to desktop and then transfer the file. Don't take out the SD card and use the card reader.

3. Turn off the phone. Press and hold HOME and POWER button. The phone will start in recovery mode. You should see an exclaimation sign when it starts.

4. Press Alt + L, it will take you to the boot menu,

5. Press Alt + S, to start the update process. It will take a while so be patient.

6. When the update completes, it will prompt you to press HOME + BACK to reboot.

7 . After you reboot, the update will finalize and automatically reboot.

Yeah I noticed it said ahome then open home. I think open home had the same problem as ahome before so they just got the solution from them and didn't change the last name lol

ya seems like alot of people are having issues with ahome n open home, which is still in testing version and not reliable yet to use completely and should hold off on ahome until its a good version to install and mess with..

I had this same problem earlier today but I DID NOT have aHome installed... I a had to go back to DREAIMG or whatever that's called.

I went from JVADP1.5 to Jfv1.51.... and that happened

Ok i got my phone working and back to normal with Hv1.5r3... but now my pc (XP) wont recognize my phone... come on!

Any suggestions?

well, you said xp wouldn't recognize the phone, not that it wouldn't prompt to mount. can you see the sdcard in the phone settings? under sdcard and phone storage?

I had this same issue and after 2 or 3 re-flashes of the firmware I just gave in and wiped... it works now but of course i have to re-do everything i had set up.

H i
I also had the same problem and follow your instructions. How can I get back the applications that I paid for and now are not there?
Thank you in advance

Wiped it, and going to reboot it multiple times and see what happens and see if my phones okay to get back to normal. I probably should of deleted update.zip after everything was done the first time.
