G1 problems!! battery?

Ok so ive had my G1 for a while and about a month ago my charger busted and i decided not to buy a new one for the time being. i decided to just use my usb charger. ever since ive been doing this my phones been acting up. When im doing something intensive like downloading apps, using maps, browsing, or talking on the phone for more than 10 minutes the phone just shuts off. Then when i restart it, it doesnt wrk and sometimes it does but says the battery is drained. if i let it sit for about 10 minutes, i turn it back on and everything is back to normal, and it says the battery is back to its original level. only to repeat the same fate again. Is this a battery problem? I dont want to buy one only to find out its not. Thanks for reading! i hope someone can help =)

Welcome to AC, cut the phone off and let it charge til the light turns green then try it. If it still does it then your going to need a battery.

and if your battery is kinda puffy n fat u need a new one

If it's still an original battery, then I'd get a new one. By now it's probably on its last legs. (They're super cheap on ebay btw)

Have you flashed a custom rom? I know there are a couple of roms that have battery problems like that.

no i havent flashed it, but i might need a new battery, it does seem puffy and fatter than usual. thanks for the replies guys!
