G1 or Cliq?

I'm looking for a T-Mobile phone with keyboard for someone in my family for cheap and I have found a G1 and a Cliq in my area in good shape for decent prices.

Since I own a G1 I'm tempted to just get them that and call it a day, but is the cliq at the same price as the G1 a deal? I know the Cliq is a newer phone and is still being sold by T-Mobile.

Any insight is helpful
 
I had a G1 since release date up until 4 days ago, now I have the vibrant and I actually miss the G1. I never had any problems with it and even tho its outdated as far as android goes its still plenty of phone. I know nothing about the cliq tho.
 
I really love the G1 and all I really know about the Cliq is that it has a form of motoblur which doesn't seem to be very popular. So far the edge is definitely going to the G1.

the cliq has slightly better specs.. i think it's just a little more ram, but still. if you're into rooting the phone and such, the g1 hands down. it has a huge dev community.
 
To say its way faster is a bit of an exageration. And this is a deal breaker for me. As of right now you can't get adw or launcher pro on the cliq. The g1 is less flamboyant and a great keyboard

Are you sure about that? I'll have to try it on my non-rooted cliq later. I have another cliq thats currently running both vanilla 2.1 and motoblur 2.1. I also have a cliq and a g1 and it is indeed way faster. The g1 does have a better keyboard though.
 
My buddy has a cliq and it just feels cheap. But most likely since I'm used to my droid. I'm sure the g1 feels the same way though. I guess I'm slightly biased in that I hate motoblut so much I think people shouldn't get it.
