Future in cosmology..?

One of my friends had majored in astrophysics, they have a masters degree, and will be getting a PhD in cosmology. They love what they are doing but what about when it comes to earning a living, what can they do and how much $ can they earn maximum?

With a PhD in physics or astrophysics, they'll make between 60k and 200k a year (usually less than 100k). It's a job you do because you love it, not because it will make you rich - medicine would do that in a lot less time. But hopefully your friend is willing to move around a lot - there aren't a ton of jobs out there for astronomers, so we have to take what we can get, even if it involves moving across (or out of) the country.

To Eri, I can't email you and you're not accepting any new contacts, so I'll resort to asking you here.

I understand that you are about 6 months away from your PhD. Are you willing to share your plans for the future. How will you use your degree.

Enquiring minds would like to know.
