Futurama - "Rebirth" - Talkback [6/24]

That's because Farnsworth said that the shock the robotic Fry had caused Robot Fry and Leela to have short term memory loss. Thus why Leela didn't remember that Fry was a robot when she woke up. So they did explain that one actually: the last thing she would remember would be the crash thanks to losing her most recent memories.

Though I haven't seen all the DTVs I don't think they were as bad as some people said they were. Though "Into The Wild Green Yonder" did have a meandering first act the rest of the plot was done fairly well, and it ended on a good climax, more fitting for the show then the original climax: The crew preparing to enter the unknown into a wormhole to avoid being caught, and Fry and Leela confessing they're love for each other. Actually the later is how the original series ended which made me worried they were just going to recycle the "Fry and Leela get together then somehow don't get together in the end" plot again and again.

Thankfully they managed to put that fear of my sort of behind them with this episode. Here we see the two still do care deeply about each other, and even though Leela is hesistant about being in a relationship with Fry at the end, it's only due to what happened. You know her being in a coma and seeing Fry be with a robotic Leela, and then finding out that Fry was a robot after the real Fry is spit out by the stem cell regenerator. I always like these twists in the Futurama plot with how they planned out the ending of the episode well into it's production so though it's surprising, it dosen't come out of left field. I'm hopeful that this episode won't give us anymore "will they or won't they" with Fry and Leela and have them more as an actual couple.

The laughs here were also pretty good, from the Comedy Central joke (pretty obvious but hey still more subtle then when Family Guy came back from cancellation), "In your time Stem Cell reserach was conterversial. In this time, shut up", Bender being forced to boogie down his extra energy and being happy and then annoyed and then happy to contiously party, Build A Bot workshop (though thinking about it weren't the planet express crew against dating a robot in "I Dated A Robot"? What is it fine if it looks like Leela), Robot Leela punching Fry in the face when he confused her and Leela (I don't normally like those kind of jokes but the timing and the situation actually made it funny), the procedure to try and wake up Leela, Leela's last request (and Bender stealing from her wallet), the two Leelas fighting over Fry and him shooting himself, "how come the robot's voices changed?" "That's one mystery we'll never find out", and the ending party. Defintley as entertaining as I remember Futurama episodes being. It's not as touching or funny as the show gets but hey it's only the first episode of the new season so we still have room to build up.

Futurama is back! I loved this episode. It was very well written. The Fry robot part was a twist I wasn't expecting. I loved the Professor's line, "Bender Stop Shutting the Hell Up!" It was really hilarious. I give this episode a 10 out of 10.

Yep. They got married and divorced in that episode as well.

Also, the new episodes pick up from where the last DTV left off; Fry and Leela became an item at the end of the movie, and in both of these episodes, they're still acting like a couple, so for fans who have complained that Futurama doesn't have enough continuity, there's some continuity for you.

I thought it was a funny episode, and I didn't see the twist with "Fry" actually being a robot too...I love how they showed that Fry and Leela really do think alike at times (they both make a robot clone of the other after it seems they're not coming back.....though actually,it was the robot Fry that made robot Leela )....It was also a nice touch that the robot clones ended up together (and funny that their voices changed after taking their "skin" off)...

I haven't had a chance to share my comments about this ep yet. Here are my thoughts about it:

1. I see this ep picks up right where "Into the Wild Green Yonder" left off. It was kinda weird that after they crashed, all that remained of their bodies were their heads.:p

2. I was saddened when Leela didn't wake up after they were all revived in Farnsworth's DNA pool.:( It was kinda funny seeing them at least try and wake her up.:p

3. I kinda didn't blame Fry for making a robot clone of Leela, mainly because...he couldn't be without her.:)

4. I was so glad when at Leela's funeral, that cyclops-eating monster's roaring was able to wake her up!:D I was so relieved they escaped in time!

5. Even I was amazed at the twists towards the end! I'm referring to that Leela & Fry both made robotic clones of each other so they could still be together!:D The clones voices after they removed their skins didn't sound too bad.:)

6. I was so relieved when the cyclops-eating monster swallowed Bender just before the nuclear reactor went off.

7. It's a shame Zap Brannigan got revived at the very end. I never liked him.:p

A great way for the series to return! 5 stars!!! I love this show!!!:D:D:D

Yeah, God that was so funny:

Fry (at the altar with Leela after they've been married thanks to a timeskip) I don't know what I did to make you love me, but what matters is that we're married now. We have the rest of our lives to -
(timeskip. They're both in front of a judge)
Judge: The divorce is final.
Fry: (screeches) WHAT????

LOLOLOL!!!! :D:D:D

This episode was good, though I do wish they stayed with the 'fugitives on the lam' plot. I just thought it would've been interesting to see them traveling across the universe on the run. Still, it was pretty good. I do believe I also got a bit confused when they threw in that twist with the Fry robot.

Personally, I'm glad they didn't continue that. It would've been unnecessarily stretching out a plot line, like with the movies. I'm glad they hit the reset button after coming back to Earth and the show went back to 30-minute plots; that's where Futurama shines, IMHO.
