If this is similar to MTV's short-life animation booms, it won't last long.
They always do this. Instead of focusing on one really good animated show, they have to order two other crappy ones. Last time they did this they reran every cartoon from the Viacom vault (Ren & Stimpy, Invader Zim, Beavis & Butthead, etc.)

MTV launched in 1981, and began showing non-music programming in 1987 with the debut of Remote Control
So it was really only about music for 6 years, and for the 22 years after that it has focused on reality shows, etc. There was still a good amount of music on the channel during the 90's, but also a lot of non-music programming.
