Futurama - "Attack of the Killer App" - Talkback [7/1]

I thought that was setting up a joke. After going to the planet with the e-waste Leela says that they shouldn't dump their old, perfectly working, electronics for new ones, then everyone INCLUDING Leela throws out their phones for new eyePhones. Hypocrites much? :rolleyes:

Mom's plan was funny let pointless, everyone waited in that huge line to get the eyePhone. All she had to do was post an ad on everyones eyePhone about the eyePhone 2.0 and they would of all flocked to the store again, idiots. I was thinking Mom was going to try to take over the world, again. I just wan't to slap Mom for not seizing that PERFECT opportunity.

Why did Leela say Fry was a good freind, doesn't she mean a good boyfriend. I really hope they aren't just friends again. What do you guys think?

I liked this episode, not the best of the season, but every season has some bad episodes.

Fry and Leela were friends long before they became an item, and even now there's no reason why Leela shouldn't still consider Fry to be a friend. Even though Leela and Fry are in relationship now it doesn't mean they have to act lovey-dovey all the time.
 
Well, I liked this episode, primarily for the Fry and Leela subplot. I really like how the writers are handling their relationship. Fry adores Leela, but he's still Fry, and so he screws up a lot. I really expected Leela to deck him for what he did, but her tears probably hurt him a lot worse than any punch would have, I guess. And I liked that Leela was so vulnerable in this episode. It's another side to her we don't see much, since she's usually the tough warrior girl.

Bender's just obnoxious now, and I'm not sure he's as funny as he used to be.

That Susan Boil gag was DUMB. And I don't like the idea that Leela has something like that on her. Maybe it's silly, but I don't.

The Eyephone and Twitcher gags were pretty spot-on. I have to really fight to resist every new phone that comes out. Man, that Evo looks awesome..:p

I'd give this ep an 8/10.
 
Maybe it's just me, but I'm noticing more racial/ethnic humor than usual. Do you think they would go as far as having one of the "censored 11" cartoons play on the giant TV during the intro?
 
Let me put it this way. Do any of you really think that they're not going to end up together for real-real when Futurama ends for good?

Sure, they're gonna backpedal a little so it doesn't turn into every bad 'ship fanfic ever written, but I think the creators have made it plain to see that they are destined for each other. Mark my words, Leela will profess her undying love for Fry by the time Futurama ends.
 
1. It would be dumb except the joke is a homage to all the way back to the first episode of Futurama where Fry meets a sewer mutate who was a boil that grew and absorbed the body of it's host.

2. Yea. The first two episode were a bit weak, but this episode was spot on, and I think the producers of the show finally got back the "feel" for their series.
 
This turned out to be a really good episode except that the boil part was disgusting. I loved the part were Fry asked, "Why is it called an eyephone?" and the guy at the Mom store takes a chip and shoves it in his eye. How come I have a feeling that will eventually happen in real life? I thought Mom's goal of a million followers would help her take over the world not make them just go out and buy eyePhone 2.0. Still a good episode. I give it a 7 out of 10 because of how gross the boil was.
 
This was probably my favorite episode of the season so far. The ending was definitely not a letdown, in fact I was on the edge of my seat wondering how they would resolve the issue of having between 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 zombies roaming around with only minutes to spare in the episode.

In a normal show or movie, of course the villain's plan would be world domination or some such overused plot, which is why it was so enjoyable when the writers turned that trope on its ear and made it all about selling the eyePhone 2.0. Yes, it almost certainly would have sold anyways, but that's beside the point. Not only was it funny, but it was a decent bit of social commentary as well. How many us have become "slaves" to technology and run out to buy the newest version of something we already have? Apple fans especially seem to be notorious for this, which I'm sure is what prompted the gag.
 
I'm with the crowd who agrees that the 'eyephone' thing was a little squicky.:ack:
The singing boil suprised me, and I thought it was a guy at first. Leela may be most normal looking mutant, but she's still a mutant. After all, she had elbow talons in TBWABB. :sweat:

I honestly thought Mom's zombie plan was going to backfire since Igner said the weather was horrible and the twit worm machine could've been electrocuted.


Actually, I thought that was funny how they were talking while not noticing the citizens of NNY marching. It reminds me of a similar scene in a Simpsons episode You Only Move Twice when Homer was talking to Hank Scorpio whilst ignoring the fighting in his lair.
 
Funniest episode of the season so far.

I just loved the concept of the eyePhone... or, at least installing it. Man, that was hilarious! Favorite part had to be the 'can you believe we can use it to make phone calls, too?' I loved the 'full circle' ending too... as many people have already said, most of those New New Yorkers would have probably bought an eyePhone 2.0 of their own free will. So it's even more unexpected that Mom would go through so much trouble to force them to do it, and she does anyway.

The only thing I had qualms about was the two-headed goat... which seemed funnier in the ads, but... yeah, that was disgusting, man.
 
I know this episode aired almost 2 months ago but I watched it for the second time last night and I'm curious about a technical side of this one that I'm kind of hoping someone could explain, so here goes.

Watching this in high def I noticed there's a difference between the way most of the episode looks and how things seen on the eyePhone look. The colors seem more saturated or slightly backlit or something like that. There's a very interesting "traditional cell animated" look to how it comes off.

I'm wonder how exactly they did this. Anyone know?
