Futurama Appreciation Thread: Cuz the whole gang is back in full effect!

That's just my guess. Sometimes news comes pretty late but I guess better than none at all.

I can't remeraber the last time I watched an episode of Futurama. That makes me sad. :( Though I must admit I haven't been watching much TV at all in the past few weeks because of the writers strike (still no new episodes yet even though it's over.) I'm gonna try and watch an episode either today or tomorrow.

lol i always "lol"....my posts always look naked to me if i don't say it....it's kinda weird..i've actually said "lol" in person a few times..it's so weird

I checked imdb.com but it doesn't say whether the original cast merabers have been signed on to come back to the show. I'm sure they'd be asked back though. :D

:lmao: That quote is too funny.

I was watching the episode today where they go to the planet full of robots.
Leela and Fry were doing the robot dance and Bender was asking them how they were doing it.

This is the second show that I know to be resurrected from cancellation due to DVD sales (the other being Family Guy). :yay:

Hopefully they'll be able to get to the original actors. My only hope is that their episodes would stay on top and not decrease like "certain" shows.

Got some great news for our Futurama fans:

TV.com: Futurama IS returning OMG!!

Futurama IS returning OMG!!

[UPDATE] Comedy Central has picked up Futurama for 26 new episodes; DVD sales cited for resurrection!

This would usually start off with a "Good news, everybody!" But let's face it: this is GREAT news! Over the last year, there have been rumors aplenty about a possible resurrection of Futurama, and now they're back with a vengeance.

According to Collider.com, Comedy Central has picked up 13 new episodes of Futurama (awesome update below). The site claims an inside source also says production offices are open and casting--presumably working out deals with the original voice actors--is underway.

Comedy Central has been airing Futurama in syndication since 2008, and has made it a centerpiece of its late-night animated reruns block along with South Park.

Futurama originally aired on Fox from 1999 to 2003, when it joined the ranks of prematurely cancelled Fox shows. The animated program, about a ragtag crew that works for a delivery service in the future, was co-developed by The Simpsons' Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. However, due to its relation to The Simpsons, which was already a phenomenon, it often lived in the shadow of Homer, Bart, and the rest of the four-fingered freaks. However, Futurama is the superior of the two (editor's note: this is solely the opinion of the author and does not reflect the opinion of TV.com or its parent companies).

[UPDATE] EW.com has confirmed the news with 20th Century Fox Television! And it won't just be 13 episodes--the order is for a whopping 26 new segments!

No set date but at least it is confirmed!

HOORAY! can't wait - I've heard rumors about this before, so it's great to finally get it confirmed :) YAY! My prayers were finally heard

:woot: :bunny:

*runs off to tell everybody* Good news Everyone...

Comedy Central Preps New Toons; "Futurama" Returns

Comedy Central's development slate for 2010–2011 includes three new animated comedies and the return of Futurama, the network announced yesterday.

The half-hour animated comedy JC has Jesus Christ trying to escape from the shadow of his "all-powerful yet apathetic" father by returning to Earth and living in New York City. Brian Boyle of American Dad is attached as executive producer, along with Henrik Basin, Honathan Sjoberg and Andreas Ohman.

Joe Squad parodies G.I. Joe and like-minded superhero cartoons as a team of elite fighters tries to save the world from the inept Master Snake and his Rattlers while not getting on each others' nerves. Characters include the sex-obsessed team leader, the clean-cut American, the silent ninja, the "Schwarzeneggerian female" and other noRAB to the genre. The series comes from Blake McCormick of King of the Hill.

Supermax describes life inside a prison housing such inmates as Sammy "The Bull" Gravano, Ted Kaczinski, Richard Reid, and John Walker-Lindh. The series comes from Lew Morton of NewsRadio and Futurama.

The network also says that Futurama's new 12-episode season will debut on Thursday, June 24.

Just in time for summer.
