fusible link in 2005 mazda 6?

so i tried to jump start my car and we hooked up the cables wrong... we hooked up the positive to the neg and the neg to the pos on the working battery.. then tried to start it.. now the car isnt working at all.. we bought a new battery and tested the starter.. they're all fine. now im wondering if there is a fusible link somewhere in the mazda 6 (2005).. or have any other ideas of what can be wrong?
 
Yes, there is a fusible link. You will find it on the lead between the alternator and the positive post on battery.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people come here with stories of how they connected battery jumper cables in reverse. That seems very odd given the fact that any attempt to touch reversed jumper cables to the final battery connection unleashes a hellish molten fury of blazing sparks as hot and as bright as an electric arc light at the connection and any person with the least bit of common sense would take that as a clue that something is amiss.
 
Oh no.... reversing those cables could have backfedd soooo many circuits in your car, I would have no idea what couldhave gne wrong. Its kinda like the electric lottery at that point. I know that when a guy accidentally did that in my shop, they ruined the PCM (car's computer), burned out a fuel injector, burned out the IAC, the stereo was fried, and a few other things. It was thousands of dollars in damage. Reversing those cables could have done A LOT of damage to your car. Or it could have done nothing. Electricity is funny like that.

Take it to a mechanic.
 
the car should should have a main fuse that protects all other fuses just in case that something like that happens, check on fuse box under the hood and look for the main fuse to see if is burn. if you can't find it try the owners manual.
