Funniest Ending Gags in Animation

Here's a thread which I don't -think- has been done before: Your favorite ending gags in animation. And when I say ending, I mean immediately before the end credits or iris out or whatever. Feel free to give reasons/explanations of what occurred, too, because not all of us may have seen the episodes in question.

High Diving Hare (Looney Tunes): Bugs Bunny's ending line: "I know this doesn't follow the laws of gravity, but... I never studied law." Nice one-liner.

SpongeBob SquarePants: "Dying For Pie": SpongeBob, revealing he's not going to explode from the pie Squidward gave him, wants to share the pie with Squidward. But he trips and the explosive pie hits Squidward in the face, causing a massive mushroom cloud. Squidward is heard weakly saying, "Ouch." There's perfect timing on that pie hitting Squid's face.

"No Weenies Allowed": SpongeBob is in the hospital because he slipped on an ice cube. The doc points him to a neighboring hospital across the street that might be better suited for him: "Weenie Hut General". Not only does it carry the running gag even further, but I love Sponge's voice when he sees it. The design on the hospital is pretty funny, too.

Oblongs: "My Name is Robbie": The robotic arms and legs that Bob was using in the episode (and which he dumped into the ocean) are taken by a shark, who immediately leaves the water and starts beating lifeguards, before its mouth engulfs the camera. I love how abrupt the ending is; no sooner does this shark start terrorizing the beach, but he swallows the camera, then almost immediately: "STARRING: WILL FERRELL." Gets me to laugh just for how fast it is.

Simpsons: "Beyond Blunderdome": (zoom in on random dog's shifty eyes: "DAH DAH DAH DAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!") Good follow-up to a previous joke. What evil does the dog have in store?

Duckman: "The Road to Dendron": Duckman says, "Sing, and we're out!" But all we hear is silence. Then a scroll reads: "Due to limited music budgets, we used our allotment of one song per show." When Bernice, Charles, Mambo, Fluffy and Uranus start singing, an additional caption reads: "Consider yourselves lucky."

Family Guy: "The King is Dead": "Hey, hey were you there when I farted?" Uh, YES, Peter, she was the one rallying against it. :p

"He's Too Sexy For His Fat": "Well Peter, I guess you learned a valuable lesson."
"Nope!"

Love convention-breaking jokes like that.

"Breakin' Out is Hard to Do": Peter tries a sumo move on Brian but doesn't know his own strength (or Brian just isn't ready, whatever) and he throws Brian into a bunch of dishes. Brian gets up, appropriately steamed, and says "No you know what? It's NOT cool, Peter. It's NOT cool!" and storms out. Love how abrupt it is.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force: "Super Model": Meatwad teaches Shake how to be a bulimic:
Again, I love how abrupt an ending it is, and Frylock's "Meatwad, NO!" is so well-delivered and timed.

One ending line/gag that I've always enjoyed is the ending of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode "Dumber Dolls", the one with Happy Time Harry.

Frylock and Meatwad are in Carl's pool when Master Shake returns from the hospital after jumping off of a cliff believing that doing so would cause him to become the Highlander. Shake is in a wheelchair and is sporting a pair of plastic eyes, and is also carrying a sword. Shake lifts his sword in the air and announces "There can be only one!". Then lightning strikes the sword, causing Shake to plummet to the ground, engulfed in flame, and his plastic eyes fall off of his head. Then we cut to Frylock and Meatwad for about 1 second before Meatwad says "We be grillin' tonight!" Cut to credits.

I also like the ending of the Duckman episode, "Inherit the Judgement: the Dope's Trial". The camera does an iris out with Cornfed in the circle. The soundtrack plays a sound-alike of "Merrily We Roll Along" from Looney Tunes and Cornfed says "A-ba-dee, a-ba-dee, a-ba-dee...that's everything we've got, people."

Futurama: "A Fishful of Dollars".

After Mom realizes that Fry is just going to eat the world's last tin of anchovies instead of using their DNA for an unlimited oil source (which would've put her out of business), she let's him have it. Fry then treats the Planet Express crew to a pizza with anchoives, which everyone but Fry finds disgusting. Zoidberg enters and is immediately enticed by the "heavenly stench" (since it was his people who ate the anchovies into extinction) and devours the pizza. He then says "More", to which Fry calmly responds, "There aren't any more. And there never will be." Zoidberg is in a maniacal rage by this time, and getting more and more manic, demanding, "More! MORE! MOOOORE!" He then lunges at the others and swallows the camera, with the credits inside his mouth. It's funny because you're left wondering what exactly the crazed Zoidberg did to them.

Robot Chicken: "Take Your Sidekick to Work Day".

Members of the Justice League (Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter) are hosting their respective sidekicks (Robin, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Speedy and Manhunter's "invisible" sidekick, Martian Boyhunter). At the end of the sketch, the Teen Titans teleport away, only to materialize above an active volcano which they promptly fall into. The League members all turn to J'onn, who exclaims, "It wasn't me! Martian Boyhunter did it!" As the superheroes proceed to pummel J'onn, in the foreground, Boyhunter materializes, revealing that he was real all along, only invisible. Boyhunter turns to the audiences and snickers, "Heh-heh-heh. (D-word)s." Cut to credits. Boyhunter's delivery of that final line followed by the abrupt cut made that sketch for me.

One of my personal favourites is from Dexter's Lab episode 'Continuum of Cartoon Fools', in which after realising he's locked himself out of his own lab after trying an entire episode to keep Dee-Dee out, he goes into a long winded and pitiful rant about how ironic it is and that he's doomed to a cartoon fool's life of failure, comparing himself to the likes of Daffy and Wile.E (dat stoooopid coyote!) in the process.

There's also 'Monstory'. After insisting she has an interesting story to tell that ISN'T just 'another stupid knock-knock joke', Dexter goes to extreme lengths to avoid her, involving the siblings turning into larger and larger b-movie monsters. It ends with the two roughly half the size of the earth. Dee-Dee pins Dexter down on America and says:
'NOW you'll listen! So the boy said to the girl in the park about the pony.......KNOCK KNOCK!'
Cue Zilla-Dexter's overdramatic 'NOOOOOOOOO!'

I'm sure those probably aren't the best the show had to offer, but they've both stuck with me regardless!

I don't know why, but the ending to Ed Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show is funny whenever I see it. There was the whole "140 episodes, 4 specials and a movie" line from Double D, but then that whole surprise ending with
Johnny and Plank going to the dark side had me laughing, especially when Plank told Johnny that the movie was over, and he's like "What movie?" before it just fades to black

One funny one I remember is in Dexters Lab when Dexter goes into this long rant about what christmas should be about Dee-Dee was like no it isn't it's about the presents and Santa after a whole episode of Hoing he saysit's about the presents and it goes to end.

Another from Dexter's Lab is when Dexter's Mom and Dad Punish "Dexter" and "Dee-Dee" they walk off and Mom is like honey why is the floor is all wet after "Dee-Dee" couldn't use the "Dee-Dee".

One from The Simpsons when everyone is singing a song around the campfire suddenly the Friday the 13th theme comes on someone jumps at Ernest Borgnine.

^ One similar to that is when Frylock talks about things they did in the movie and Meatwad is like What movie?

The episode "Patriot Games" of Family Guy, when Brian gets revenge on Stewie literally at the last second, shoving him in front of a moving bus. My favorite ending to a Family Guy episode. :D

Speaking of abrupt ATHF endings, I love the end of one episode (no clue what the title was), where it seems like everything is wrapping up, then, out of nowhere, Meatwad pulls out a gun and shoots himself in the head (with Frylock again saying "Meatwad, NO!").

The way the credits cut in right when he pulls the trigger gets me every time.

One episode of "The Grim Adventures Of Billy Of Mandy" had a particurally hilarious ending. I'm paraphrasing this, but this was essientally how it went:

Grim: Dad, I'm sorry I lied that I was a country music star. Can you ever forgive me?

Grim's Dad: No.

Abrupt fade to black.

The ending of South Park's "Scott Tenorman Must Die", which has Cartman imitating Porky Pig's "Th-th-th-that's All, Folks!" is also hilarious, mainly due to the disturbing events that immediately precede it.

Off the top of my head, there's two:

"Chow Hound" - "This time, we didn't forget the gravy." I don't want to give it away for those who haven't seen it, but it is one of the darkest, funniest endings to a cartoon.

"Don't Touch That Dial" (Teen Titans) - It's almost like David Slack had no clue how to end the episode and just had the Titans talking about what they learned. Cyborg's perfectly delivered "It was all completely meaningless" was the icing on the cake.

Ahh. This reminds me of an episode where Grim and Mandy keep going further and further back in time to prevent Billy from ever being born. They constantly arrive late to the scene, and eventually wind up witnessing a Harold-like, primitive sea creature's first foray onto land. Then a flustered Grim blurts out in desperation:
"It's hopeless Mandy! We've gone back in time so times now, WHO KNOWS HOW THIS WILL ALL END!?!"
Abrupt cut to a black screen with the text 'The End'.

I'm absolutely sick of Spongebob, but the ending (or lack thereof) to Krusty Krab Training Video STILL makes me laugh every single time.

Squidbillies "Wing Nut": After Rusty finds out the mutated chicken wings make people explode, He runs to his house to try and save Early, but the house explodes before he could. Rusty starts to cry when...

Early: Why are you cryin'? I'm just settin' off my gasoline collection.

Rusty: I thought you were saving that for my college.

Early: I was, (Throws a lighted jug of gasoline) but now I'm not.

SpongeBob SquarePants: "The Idiot Box": Squidward is unknowingly sent to the city dump inside the box. The next morning, SpongeBob and Patrick go to visit Squidward at his house. Patrick remarks: "I hope he's not too down in the dumps today." Corny pun? Yes, but what makes it work is the exaggerated timpani. The show knows it's a bad joke and calls attention to it.

The Simpsons: "Homer vs. Patty and Selma": After Homer stands up for Patty and Selma at the DMV by pretending that he was smoking instead of them...

Patty: Homer...we're...sorry.
Selma: If there's anything we can do to make it up you-
Homer: Call off the debt?
Patty: Or, say, we could let you pass your driver's test-
Homer: Call off the debt?
Patty: Uh... well...
Homer: Debt's off! Let's go, Marge. (runs out with her)

^ Love how Patty and Selma just stand there for a few seconds, blank expressions on their faces. They don't even say anything; they've come to expect his behavior.

Tiny Toon Adventures: "Thirteensomething": Babs and Buster kiss, though Babs pulls a black card over the screen so we can't really see it. A moment later, we hear Plucky ask Shirley, "Hey Shirley, gettin' any ideas?" Then Shirley smacks Plucky through the black card and Plucky says, "Feel free to change the channel..."

Rocko's Modern Life: "Wacky Delly": Ralph Bighead finally completes a larger-than-life sculpture of a bowl of fruit. A random bypasser looks at it and says, "Hey, not bad! But have you seen "Wacky Delly"? The first season, that is, 'til that new guy RUINED it!"

"Gutter Balls": Rocko wins the bowling tournament instead of Ed Bighead. Rocko approaches him and says, "I know this trophy means more to you than it does to me so.... I'll keep it in the window facing your house, so you can look at it whenever you want!" Cue sad Ed face.

^ I've said this many many times, but I love "screw you" jokes like that.

Duckman: "Days of Whining and Neurosis": Cornfed, being thoroughly exhausted by the constant commotion of the celebrity rehab clinic, says "I could use a drink."

Dr. Katz: This show is tricky because there's no actual "iris out" or "fade to black"; it just goes right into the credits after Dr. Katz says, "Oops, you know what the music means. Our time is up." But some of my favorites:

"Movies": Patton Oswalt interrupts the music by saying it stinks and he should get an evil pipe organ track instead, going with the whole "pretend you're my enemy" motif he was suggesting to Katz the whole episode.

"Bystander Ben": During the credits, we hear Katz and Ben discuss things they're not proud of. Ben admits to flushing some dirty socks down the toilet. Katz replies, "That's bad. You didn't take a dump in the hamper, did you? (Ben laughs) Tell me that was not you."

"Koppleman and Katz": Over the credits, we hear Ben admitting that he loves folk songs where they are about to sing a dirty word but go in an unexpected direction. So Katz plays his guitar and sings: "...But my love for you, girl it won't quit, even though I know everything you touch turns to... SHOULD'VE-" (Ben laughs) They do this a couple more times; Ben ends the episode with: "It doesn't get any cleverer than that."

:^: One of my favorite Dr. Katz closings was an episode in which Katz is having a session with Emo Phillips. The end music pipes up and Dr. Katz asks Emo, "You know what that music means, right?" Cut to Emo sitting on his back on the couch the way Snoopy lies on his doghouse. Emo responds, "Yeah, the Peanuts special is coming on." :anime:

Simpsons- Bart vs. Australia -Bullfrogs have begun to overpopulate and destroy the Australian ecosystem. One them remarks that this only happens when a foreign species is introduced and laugh at their plight. Meanwhile, a koala is hiding on the back of the helicopter as they fly into the sunset.

It just never fails to make me giggle everytime I see it.

Hmm, I really thought this thread would be more popular.

Anyway, some more favorites of mine:

The Simpsons: "Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk": Burns agrees to hire Homer back, even after he humiliated him at the bar. Smithers asks why.

Mr. Burns: I keep my friends close, and my enemies even closer. He'll slowly regain his confidence as the months and years drift by, blissfully unaware that the Sword of Damocles is dangling just above his head. And then one day, when he least expects it...
Homer: (gets off the phone) Woo-hoo! I got my job back!

^ In retrospect, this joke is even funnier when you consider that Burns forgets who Homer is all the time. I think it's a safe bet that Homer will be fine.

Family Guy: "The Fat Guy Strangler": Stewie says, "Yeah, so there's a half dead fat guy upstairs eating another dead guy. (everybody ignores him) Yeah, so we're just gonna look the other way then?"

Space Ghost Coast to Coast: "Terminal": An alarm clock rings, and Space Ghost says, "Well, it's time for me to die." He walks in front of his desk and says, "Aah." and falls over, laying there for many seconds before opening his eyes and saying, "Huh, this isn't so bad."

"Waiting For Edward": After the set explodes, we cut to Space Ghost in front of some children. He says, "And so kids, that's the story of how I saved Christmas. Now get back to work, ya fat humps!"

"Joshua": Space Ghost is announcing the winners of the "Haiku'n For Space Ghost" contest, and the second winner is Sean Medlock.

Space Ghost: OK Medlock, read your thing.
Sean: I hope I don't win / The rules say to bring a friend / I don't have any.
Space Ghost: ....You won for THAT?
Sean: Uh-huh, kinda surprising, isn't it?
Space Ghost: Yep, good night, everybody!
