The new podcast/monthly update will be the last podcast funimation will be making (according to the newest podcast).

If this news isnt a joke or some kind of hoax, I'll be truly sad, the podcast was fun, and will be missed.

Was I the only one who noticed the "new beginning" in the description and the not-so-subtle hints they'll eventually be doing some other fan-oriented thing?

EDIT: By the way, where's the proof that they laid off 60 people? I just checked the thread about it and the last thing anybody said about it was a claim that it was 20.

I noticed that too, but I think thats because he says in the podcast

"Now don't be sad, theres still a bunch of new funimation stuff coming, were putting new anime on the funimation video player, and we are all over the shelves, wating for you, too enjoy us."

I think what I'm trying to say here is that what the message meant was
"Don't be sad that the podcast is over, we still have great anime available on the web and in dvd stores"

Maybe they're just being cute, but that sure seems like there's some heavy-handed implying going on.

Looks like Scott is laid off while FUNimation is being restructured. The future fate of FUNi has yet to be determined.

I think we should worry more about ADV than FUNi. FUNi is the #1 company in the NA anime market so they are doing fine.

That's like being the #1 newspaper publisher in the USA. Not an enviable position right now due to massive market contraction.

Nah I doubt it, he might do some behind the scenes kind of stuff (dvd work) but I honestly can't imagine him being a VA

Dunno about you guys but I really really tried to like the podcasts but just couldn't get into them. I thought Scott was trying way too hard to be funny but his gags wound up falling flat.

But that's just me.
