Funimation "Roll-out Riot" Talkback

Yeah...looks like I'm only interested in the FLCL rerelease from all the stuff announced this week, the live action movies would be decent rentals if the rental video stores around me haven't started to shut down completely.

I guess I'll just settle for the Soul Eater release next month.
 
I'd rather have Greg Ayres as the voice of (Northern) Italy given how:Greg is probably a better choice to play childish characters (and it would be cool to see him as both Italy and Chibitalia);You can have Greg's brother, Chris, voice Southern Italy.
 
Well, when you look at it, the potentially mainstream shows FUNI's recently acquired hasn't gone anywhere. One Piece got booted off half a year into the FUNi dub for no apparent reason. SGT. Frog, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Darker Than Black, and El Cazador de la Bruja (the most mainstream "new" anime in their possession) have not wound up on TV and likely won't at this point.

The only other new title with a potential mainstream audience is SanRAB of Destruction, and that's because of the RAB title coming to America too, which makes it a merchandising opportunity. But I highly doubt anyone's going to pick that up, unless Disney XD somehow decides they want it.

So if FUNimation's given up I don't really blame them. It may be part of the reason why they're going the live-action route here, those movies SELL. They're quite lucrative in comparison to the average anime, especially with the TV market being quite unfriendly at this time.

Hetalia's gonna sell big, though.
 
Hetalia Axis Powers...oh, isn't that the anime has a lot of innuendo? And the whole cast is male? Do not want.

Also, The Sacred Blacksmith? Didn't that show literally just ended in Japan?

Looks like that Toradora rumor seemed false...for now.
 
The cast of Hetalia is not all male. There's Hungary, Ukraine, Belarus, and Lichtenstein among others.

Besides, the yaoi elements are vastly overshadowed by the humor. I'm no fan of yaoi and I loved Hetalia.
 
Nah. They are some songs that should be left alone and some, when dubbed, that will never receive their official LP album in stores.
 
I wasn't particularly excited about much in the announcements, but after reading that Hetalia was fangirl bait, of course I had to check it out.

The Bad news is FUNi won't be doing a second season of Big Windup! due to poor sales. And there won't anymore sports-related anime to be licensed.

I can understand the move, but I would hope that FUNi would get the internet streaming rights for the second season so it could be legally available with the first season at the same location.

By honestly, out of all the sports anime series why did FUNi license on of the ones no one had heard about?
 
Well, getting it might be a function of how well-recieved it was in the underground. Everyone might be fighting for Michiko because it'd be a huge plus on any company's balance sheet, and as stacked as FUNi is, it might have taken a good faith gesture (like buying Blacksmith) to help make things happen in their favor. It's a plausible scenario.



Kodocha all over again, but with even wider effects. Yuck. Well, they are sub-section of a publically traded company, which means they can't indulge losing projects.
 
Here's something that no one had asked on this thread: What the heck is this Michiko? Honestly, I have no idea what the show's about and why is it so "well-received"? Most time when I hear/read about anime being popular, it's either a show I've seen before/I'm currently watching or it's some series that I never bothered to watch from anywhere. In any case, whatever the show is/was, without a lot of fan support, it's going to stay in The Land of the Rising Sun for a good, long while.
