Funimation Restructures with Layoffs in Several Departments

It's certainly not good, given that people have lost their jobs. But it's also certainly not a sign of significant trouble coming, so I hope fans won't be too anxious about this.
 
How unfortunate. Goes to show though that even FUNi despite its already present dominance in the anime industry in the US is not immune to having to make some rather... hard business decisions.
 
I hope these layoRAB aren't a sign for anything worse to come, because personally FUNimation is too big of an anime company to die off, and I also respect a lot of their work. I have faith FUNimation will manage to survive, and I only hope for the best.
 
Even FUNimation is laying off people now? Well that's a drag.

And the actors are freelance many of them at FUNimation do other work as well so some VAs might have lost their other duties unfortunately.
 
..Hmm well That's certanly not good to hear..Oh well I guess its not that bad..Only 10% I hope this won't affect all the new properties they acquired! Ecspecially Soul eater!
 
Probably graphics designers and marketing folks and some apparently at least on occasion do some time in the booth because that's how FUNimation rolls.

Certainly they wouldn't remove merabers of a team working on their ongoing projects but then again... it may have come to that. The viewers/buyers will not likely see a difference but people are still losing their jobs.
 
Guys this is the nature of the business. Funimation is the division of a big conglomerate/corporation, and this is what they do.

I know it sucks, but the company exists to keep itself profitable and remain profitable. The bottom line. So if you work for this company you have to keep that in mind. Sometimes you are at the whim of the bigwigs.

The job market sucks right now, I know. But you shouldn't let the size of your pocket book define how you live your life.
 
That's too bad. I'm sorry for those people who lost their jobs. Even if our economy wasn't as bad as it is right now, it's always a huge deal when people loose their jobs since they'll have a hard time supporting themselves and/or their family. I hope that they'll be able to find new jobs soon.
 
As someone recently unemployed, it is a bummer when people lose their jobs. However, a lot of companies are getting rid of people less because they are hurting to do so but more because they are unsure of the future and thus are taking preemptive action to cut costs now against future possible problems.
 
ANN only confirmed that 2 people ("at least") had lost their jobs at this point, the article says the company is going to layoff employees in multiple departments so I would think that implies more than 2.
