Funimation "One Piece" Discussion - Part 3 (Spoilers)

Third Voyage is available for pre-order before First Voyage is officially released? And it's going to be released a month after Second Voyage? Nice! Time to order Second Voyage.

And done.

So I got through my first second voyage set, and the dub continues to impress. I'm particularly happy to see Vivi working out so well. They even gave her a nice haughty accent for her Miss Wednesday persona.

And Apis wasn't annoying. Still, man, that arc really isn't the best thing the series has done. Doesn't help that Luffy's fight against the sickle sickle fruit user basically lasted for a minute.

Sweet, I wasn't expecting Season 2 Third Voyage to be released so quickly, especially after Second Voyage. Hell, the first Season 2 set hasn't even been officially released yet. FUNimation is definitely draining my wallet more than ever.

Wow. FUNimation really is doing a lot of work with these One Piece sets. I still haven't even ordered the first set for season two, but that's because I'm saving up more money for school. Though, all of FUNimation's releases and other DVRAB I'm interested in are tempting me to just go ahead and order them. But it will have to wait awhile longer.

I picked up Season 2 Part 1 today. You'll be happy to know that the "Roger Freeze" has been corrected, although I still think that the audio in the opening is lagging behind the footage by a half second or two. No big deal though.

Nice images on the menu screens, but they're still using the exact same music cues from Season 1. One Piece has an incredibly vast library of amazing music. Could they not have used something new? Or is Toei again limiting what they can do?

Dub is still great.

He's talking about the music used in FUNi's DVD menus, not in the series proper. But yes, I have heard of complaints of later episodes down the line reusing many of the same music cues, even from the movies.

I'm actually impressed at how fast FUNimation is with these releases. They are able to dub so many episodes and get them released in box sets at such a quick pace. The reason that it actually impresses me, though, is because I would think that their quick pace would be the result of at least rushing a little bit, but from the bits that I have seen of the dub of the episodes in the newer releases, they are still in just as much great quality as the older DVD releases. If I get the chance to actually buy any of these sets and hear more of the dub later on, then FUNimation's One Piece dub may indeed become one of my favorite English dubs for an anime.

Yeah - I can't help watching the Apis Arc and coming up with faux-parody lines. Not to mention how bland and out of character everyone acts... they're all so plain.
