FUNimation Licensing Blitz Coming

Not yet, but I'm halfway done with Savers so maybe after that.

That'd be so nice.

I just wish the dub would've decided on how to say "Tenjou".

That might be coming for all we know. After all, it is Enoki Films that we half to deal with here and they may very well decide to pass that license over to FUNimation. I can't imagine FUNimation getting the license from Geneon (who are out of the loop on this one) as a co-deal with Enoki Films unless they might get the whole franchise. (I'd actually forgotten that Dragon Destiny was even supposedly licensed.)

TP's release of Ikki Tousen (aka: Battle Vixens) is not worth owning. Now, if TP re-released the manga from scratch with a proper translation rather than a rewrite, then maybe we'd have something.

If FUNimation does this, it would be a SHOCK. Love Hina has what some might argue to be the worst dubs ever and I don't think FUNimation redubbed it. Slayers couldn't be redubbed (or dub-fixed) for technical reasons and while that wouldn't likely be the case for Ikki Tousen, all I see FUNimation doing is slapping their label on what was already done.

Reborn and Seto no Hanayome are also likely choices. I say Reborn because long-running shounen shows seems to be FUNi's specialty and they've already C and D'd it. And I say Seto no Hanayome because they have already released an english name for it (My Wife, the Mermaid I believe)

And for the record, Soul Eater is already one of the pickups. It's one of the clues (Though if it isn't Soul Eater, I'm going to be pissed off beyond belief)

I want FUNimation to license/re-release and english dub Soul Eater, Reborn, Gin Tama, Shakugan no Shana II(2), Digimon Seasons 1-4, The Law of Ueki, Shaman King, Dr. SLump (both Series), Dragon Ball (Z) Yo! son Goku and FrienRAB! Special/OVA (The 40th anniversary 2008 Jump Festa one), Ultimate Muscle (both series), Viewtiful Joe, Marchen Awakens Romance, and Zatch Bell!.

By the way, WTF is Blitz?

We'll see what Clannad can do. Eva has a lot of mainstream appeal. Clannad is an otaku title, and those haven't performed so well of late. Unless ADV got a great deal on Clannad it may go down as a "nice but" title that kinda keeps them afloat rather than pulling them back up.

Since it's a direct license from Enoki rather than a relicense of Genon's stuff, they may redub it, or just pass on dubbing it entirely. Not likely, but you never know. The original dub if Geneon's property, and they may not want ot give it up, or it may not be worth the cost to get it.

Unless of course Enoki controls the dub despite Geneon having done it. Just a speculation. Thus far, outside of One Piece, FUNimation hasn't redubbed or resubtitled any of their true license rescues (I don't count being Geneon's distributor as a true license rescue).

Well, I guess we'll learn soon enough. If FUNimation scores Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny from Media Blasters, I'll start thinking that FUNimation might give Ikki Tousen a new dub (and sub).

Really? I disagree. The New Generation Pictures dub is one of the reasons why it was an enjoyable show. Everyone was perfectly cast and I thought the performances were just right. Certainly quite a few lines made me laugh (and I mean, they were supposed to be funny, not lines that were so bad they were laughable).

Oh come on, that only happened once. And it was only because you were shopping at my local mall. You probably usually shop in Bellevue don't you?

I'll miss ya buddy.
