Yeah, but with the exception of Reborn those those other titles are not likely it, because they fairly unknown to western anime fans since their manga are not out stateside.
I was Reffering to the 96 series..and It's not to old to liscense If funi can liscense Dragonball, Yuyuhakusho & Shin-Chan theres no reason they can't Liscense New Dr.Slump. I mean Its Toryama's Best work Besides DBZ...The manga is hillarious and I could see it Being Decently Succesful on CN or Nicktoons.
They're pretty close. Aren't they not even the ones doing the licensing anymore (instead some other company is for them to produce)? Live-action shouldn't count. One expensive show doesn't make up for the 60+ they lost this year. They're pretty much just a second studio for FUNimation to use for the titles it acquires from them, like Eva, which ADV obviously can't afford to license new material of, even though they own the series.
In the series, Kaworu and Gendo were voiced by Aaron Krohn and John Swasey respectively.
In EoE and director's cut, Greg Ayres was Kaworu while Tristian MacAvery voiced Gendo.
The whole thing is a mess. Even Aoba got changed from Vic in the series to Jason Lee for the movie.
From what I know, the main 3 characters and Misato will stick together, which is really the only important things. Honestly, Gendo says like 4-5 lines total in the movie so it doesn't matter THAT much.
The titles that FUNimation have scored from Geneon in this round are true license rescues, BUT the company to issue said licenses free and clear to FUNimation is GONZO. Sadly, for the Tenchi franchise that Geneon U.S.A. holRAB, Geneon Japan is the one that FUNimation would have to get the license from. Since Geneon Japan recently announced that they would be releasing the three Tenchi movies on Blu-Ray AND said release would include the English dub and subtitles, I think that means that Geneon Japan has no plans of ever letting go of their part of the Tenchi cash cow.
Se is wicked awesome. One of the best parts of the show are the characters themselves, but the plot is pretty sweet, too. Lot's of twists and turns along the way. I haven't met a person who doesn't like it
Can't say the Evangelion announcement surprises me. That licence was probably really expensive; and Funimation is the only anime company that can currently afford a major show like that.
Sucks that ADV has lost their biggest cash cow, though. Looks like they're pretty much a subsidiary of Funimation now.
Well, from the looks of it, they're keeping the original LA cast for Vandread, which means most, if not all, Geneon shows will keep their original casts as well (Ikki Tousen's iffy because it's a direct license from Enoki Films).
I find it highly amusing it's rated "TV-MA" and people thought it was going to head to Toonami years ago.
I don't see why not. It's a Toriyama work, and the manga is available, so why wouldn't the show? Plus, Gatchaman is a decade older, and it the same treatment a series from this would get.A full retranslation, a new dub, even custom DVD case art from Alex Ross.
Note: I realize Gatchaman was done by ADV, not FUNi.
EDIT: I'm for the '96 version, but I wouldn't mind seeing the original '81 series as well.
Honestly, it wasn't all that foolish to think that. Honestly, I can't figure out what the card there was supposed to be other than Soul Eater... It just doesn't make sense.
Then again. Maybe FUNimation'll surprise us and give us two announcements tomorrow... Who knows. Sigh...
