Funi has Dragonball Kai (Confirmed)

Like Jacob says, Kyle still visits Texas and recorRAB for FUNi all the time, so I doubt he won't return. Dameon Clarke replacing him as Teen Gohan wouldn't make sense in the least, since Travis Willingham replaced him as Cell. Dameon Clarke is busy in LA with his live action career, and it appears he's not doing anything at FUNi anymore, since he was also replaced by J. Michael Tatum as Scar for FMA Brotherhood.

AHAHAHAHA!
Epic news!
And I was actually on the verge of buying the DBox.
*sigh of relief*
I'm glad this is coming and soon, but I'm surprised so soon...

Well, this series is being released on DVD too...and eight on one disc is pushing it, espicially with subs and likely two audio tracks.

Guess it makes sense that they added "Z" to the name, since DBZ is the more well known brand in America compared to just DB. I'm still waiting for FUNi to license the JUMP special, though.

Yes, FUNi shouldn't sell something that everybody wanted of their flagship franchise.

Wow, that Z is so awkwardly placed. JTP won't be happy....

Congrats FUNi. This will be the first Dragon Ball related thing I buy since Vol. 9 and 10 of DBGT.

Aside from the hardcore fans that will buy both the Kai and DBZ boxsets, I like many other people are conflicted on what to buy.

On one hand the DBZ Dragonbox's are the ultimate release of the series. Yet at the same time, all of DBZ's bad pacing issues, bad fillers, and drawn out episodes hamper it.

Then we have Kai. It fixes all of DBZ's pacing problems, gets rid of (most) of the filler, and will likely have a better dub to boot. Yet the negatives is it removes the blood, (Goku's death during Radditz looks awful in Kai), the Japanese soundtrack isn't as good as Z, and since it removes the training filler, you miss seeing the good guys actually train and get stronger.

I am conflicted, and I am not a hardcore enough fan to want to buy both. Do I get Kai, or do I get DBZ? What are YOU going to do?

A new dub is the only real reason people here are excited. If it prints money, SPEND MONEY on the dub, Funi.

It's a serious trollwreck if there isn't a new dub.

Nice to see Dragon Ball Kai getting a release here. Still going to buy the DBox as I do treat Kai and Z as different titles.

Dang, it IS being released fast! I'm really surprised FUNi keeps releasing new sets so quickly. I mean there's no doubt they're losing a lot of sales of their Dragonball box sets because people are anxiously anticipating Dragon Box versions, but now they're going to undoubtedly lose Dragon Box sales because many people (myself included) will be anxiously anticipating Kai.

Seriously, people would be even MORE willing to buy Dragon Ball Kai if it includes an all newly recorded dub. Not only would it give FUNi the chance to write a more accurate script, but the voice actors have also improved quite a bit since the original Dragon Ball Z dubbing days. I mean some of the voice actors are scattered around now, such as Sean Schemmel living in New York, but they seem perfectly capable of still getting them to record the video games still. If they simply re-used the existing recorded dub and just edited around that, it would seem half-assed and choppy.

All they did was dub episodes 1-67 with their in-house cast using most of the same erroneous dialogue from their first dub of those episodes.

Well, as of whats currently known Kai doesnt actually finish the story, it stops after Freeza at 50 episodes, allegedly. So, unless Kai actually does get more episodes (who knows, maybe), id get DBZ since despite the filler and pacing stuff it is actually complete.

For DVD, it's going to be three discs if it's just the Saiyan Arc. Funi averages about 6-7 episodes per DVD lately, so they'll do it like that. However, I was specifically referring to the Blu-ray set, and Funi has apparently crammed 8-9 episodes per Blu-ray in their sets for Witcrabroadlade and Champloo. Go to a Best Buy and look at their Blu-Ray section for Champloo. Stare at the back packaging and the spine where you insert the cases, and you will see the three-disc labeling for a 26-episode series. Funi will release the Saiyan arc on 2 Blu-ray discs and three DVRAB.

Also, all this talk about DBZ and Kai has me remeraber the awesome US opening for DBZ back in the day. And, yes, awesome is used without irony.

Eh, I don't know if I'm gonna get this. Kai is okay and all but I already have the same story in DBZ Dragon Box format. The only real way that Funimation is going to get me interested is if they did a proper dub and had the 4:3 HD masters for the Blu-ray release. I won't be touching the DVRAB, that's what the Dragon Box is for.

They didn't keep all the same lines. Tien never said, "I can see their parachutes, its ok!" in the redub.

Lots of the censorship lines were changed, but other stuff was kept the same.

I think it's more likely FUNimation will stick to their 12-14 model for this series. We don't know how long it shall go on, but we know fifty episodes are confirmed in-so-far. That's four sets they could stretch the series out to, regardless of 'story arcs'.

Not to mention the first set could end on the cliffhanger of Gok
