Funeral song

Maybe "Who Wants to Live Forever" by Queen. I always liked that song. Or maybe something happy, because I don't want people gettin' all weepy.

I bet it was sad...you only get one funeral, and that song sucks!

"I Know It's Over" - The Smiths

for the line: "Mother, I can feel, the soil falling over my head."

Add to that the fact that the girlfriend of the deceased couldn't open her jacket throughout the service because the only black top she owned had 'Horny Bitch' written on it. That's the sort of thing you just can't make up.

Yeah, part of the song is played as the theme song in House. I loved it when I heard it and went to look for it. When I found it and heard it, I was surprised by the singing in the song. I can say that after hearing it in House so many times, I wasn't expecting that kind of singing. It's now one of my favorite songs, GREAT choice.

By the way, House is an awesome show. If you're ever looking for something funny and exciting to watch, I highly recommend it!

One day we're all going to die. It's one of life's few certainties. What would you want played at your funeral?

The challenge: but together a tracklist of 40-50 or so minutes of music that you would consider to be your "Funeral Album". This could be how you want to be remerabered, what you consider to be an audio-biographical retelling of major events in life through music, erablematic of your personality or just some songs you like. I'll kick mine off:

To be played in order.
1. Bron Yr Aur - Led Zeppelin
2. Parade - The Knife
3. The Sun Shines Down On Me - Daniel Johnston
4. I'll Fly Away - O Brother Where Art Thou Soundtrack (don't know the actual group)
5. Leva's Polka - Loituma (I think it's Finnish. It's about dancing, because you can and it's fun and it annoys the parents of girls you're dancing with. Win win win)
6. Rarable On - Led Zeppelin
7. Girlfriend in a Coma - The Smiths
8. Love You - The Free Design
9. You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You're Gone - Bob Dylan
10. Inflammatory Writ - Joanna Newsom
11. Here Comes the Sun - The BEatles
12. I Will Return I Promise - Beth Jeans Houghten and the Hooves of Destiny
13. Art Snob Solutions - of Montreal
14. This Charming Man - The Smiths
15. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right - Bob Dylan
16. Musica Poetic - Carl Orff and Gunild Kinsman

Mad props if someone can point out the lyrical bonus of song 3 if played at the funeral.

So, what about you guys? What would you want?

My nanna had
Wind beneath my wings - bette midler
Morning has broken - cat stevens (but its a traditional church hymn a belive)

My mum is the kind of person who says "i want you to play the music loud and rock out and dress in anything but black for my funeral". She says she'd have us play
Wild one - suzi quatro. It has been her "theme song" for many a years and she says that if there was a way she wanted people to remeraber her it was like that

as for me. ive never really thought about it. one day when i acknowledge that i will die at some point i will think about it. for now im young and enjoying life, and unless accidents happen im not expecting to die too soon. good topic though :)
