You know what's fun to do when your bored. (Especially for us cartoon junkies)...

turn on the tv and find a cartoon on...

Try to find a show u dont really like... or really never watched

or mabye just never gave it a chance...

Then, just watch it! I try this all the time...

its a great way to find great cartoons u didnt relize were good!

I'm thinking of doing this with some of the more recent Nicktoons. I keep hearing good things about shows like "The Fairly OddParents", "My Life as a Teenage Robot", "Danny Phantom", and "Avatar: The Last Airbender", and I figure I might as well sit down and give 'em a look for myself.

I did that with Fairly Odd Parents, and I watch it every now and then flipping channels. Although I still sometimes mistakingly call it Fairy God Parents :).

Ben 10 isn't bad, but that seems to be one you would need to catch from the beginning. Also discovered the weirdness of Spongebob a while back. I know, I'm slow, but I don't' have a reason to watch Teen Nick...Kid Nick...er..Nickelodian anymore.

I haven't been following Nickelodeon since "Invader ZIM" got canned. Only just recently have I decided to rekindle my interest in their animated programming (getting Jerry Beck's new book definitely pushed me in that direction).

And, as promised, I sat down today and watched an episode of "The Fairly OddParents" from beginning to end. With all the buzz it gets around here, I was expecting to be met with strong, original stories and sophisticated, intelligent writing.

I'm thinking I shouldn't have started with "Blondas Have More Fun"/"Five Days of Flarg".

LOL. Sophisticated and intelligent writing? From the show that turns nonsense like "man eggs", "man skirts" and "uranus - it's actually a planet" into episode-long running gags.

:D:D:D

Oh, god, no. Never start off with S5. I'd say go back to S1, like "Father Time/ Apartnership", maybe, and for DP, skip the firsty six and go with "Bitter Reunions" for a start.

I did this method with American Dragon: Jake Long. When it satrted out, I didn't want to like it, but after getting stuck to an airing with "Act 4, Scene 15", I became hooked and the show became my anti-drug.

Therein lies the problem - I can only watch what Nickelodeon broadcasts, so I've really got no control over what seasons I have access to. And further, I don't even know what the "best" of the series would be. Have there been any seasonal DVD releases for the show yet?

Lately I've been feeling a sense of negativity on this site, and a lot of it being caused from me, so I thought it'd be kind of keen to bump this thread sort of as a recommendation thread for those who've wanted to try a show out on random but wanted to know if it's for them, what to watch first, or so on, and also to share experiences you've had like this.

So, J.B., have you tried to catch any more FOP's yet? While I'm out it, did you get S1 of those charming super-powered girls yet?

*Excuse my double-post, BTW*

I know what you mean,Amdrag getting the boot makes me negative too.

Anyway, this was a good idea.I've recently found Chowder enjoyable (albeit some of the more gross factors) and am still scouting out the next show that can make me make it my favorite show.

I believe that this thread is a great idea. People love to express their opinions, but people tend to forget that opinions can carry tremendous weight, especially when they’re voiced in unison. For example, I never wanted to watch “Yin Yang Yo!”, even though it’s now one of my favorite animated programs. Why didn’t I want to watch it? Because just about everybody on rabroad bashed the show. They said that it wasn’t that good and they blamed it, as well as its Jetix ilk, for the destruction of Toon Disney. They said that it should be cancelled and that it was too similar to The Fairly OddParents.

One day, I did exactly what the topic creator described. I decided to take the time to actually watch the show for myself before judging it, and lo and behold, I loved it.

In short, don’t let other people’s opinions persuade you. Take the time to check out shows that you’ve heard bad things about. You never know what you’ll find.
