FullMetal Alchemist New Series 2009

63 episodes has been confirmed by the director himself in his blog.

And yes, the series is awesome. As an FMA manga reader, I have to envy people following this version of the story for the first time; the series is about to shift into overdrive.

Episode 60 - holy **** that was out of this world.

Dude this guy is almost becoming a "god" or whatever is defined as god in the series. It would be really interesting to see how they pull this off considering how all the odRAB are against them.

Just saw 28.

Read the manga up through volume 20 so none of this is new to me, but it's still awesome seeing it in animation for the first time.

First of all, Envy's animation is just amazing. His true form is like something out of HP Lovecraft.

Secondly,

Greedling. Enough said. That's like adding awesome upon awesome. I like that they used Greed's voice actor for the part, rather than Ling's.

I remeraber the first time reading these chapters I couldn't put it down.

I don't think there is enough within the episode to show the strength of Hohenheim. I really liked the episode. I am truly surprised how much of a role Kirablee has played. Also the next episode looks like it should have some nice action in it.

Just saw 64.

Changes from the manga I liked:
they had Mustang and Hawkeye share the same hospital room. (woulda been better if they shared the same hospital BED, though. )

Changes I didn't like:
Adding Paninya and Garfiel to the "Elric Family Photo" at the end, where it should have been just Ed, Winry, their kiRAB, Al, and Mei.

Changes from the manga I could go either way on:
Mustang's 'stache. I don't mind it, but I can totally imagine someone wanting to yank it right off his face.

Havoc getting healed from the Philosopher's Stone. Didn't like it at first because it did seem to undermine the series' theme of the value of hard work versus quick fixes (one of the pictures in the manga was of Havoc learning to walk in physical therapy) but Mustang -would- be unselfish enough to use the stone on Havoc before restoring his own eyesight.

The loss of Jelso and Zampano learning alchemy is made up for by their amusing moment of large-hamming.

Moments I loved that were unchanged from the manga:
Pretty much everything, especially the Winry/Ed/Al reunion, which I teared up more for this time around. The proposal scene was as adorable as ever.

Also, those kiRAB' voices coming out of grown Ed and Al was highly disconcerting, especially from Al. Here's hoping that they rectify this in the dub, and hire Aaron Dismuke back as Al for this one episode.

What are your guys' thoughts?

Things are gonna get heated now that Kirablee has been released, the fight between him and Scar (which I'm guessing will happen at some point) will be awesome to watch, also I really think some how Lin is still in control of his body or he has made some kind of agreement with Greed.

You don't have to if you dont want to its ok I will just figure out the similarity when I watch it. And yep I like that name it was a good idea that they did that.

Episode 60 was pretty intense. Only two more episodes and there is still so much to wrap up. Will mustang get his sight back? Will Ed and Al get their body's back? GAAHH! I can't wait to see how they end this series.

It was the episode where Scar first shows up. And no, I'm sorry. This is completely terrible. Nothing about it is better. They changed out voice actors for Al and whoever that is is completely awful. The writing is awful. The music is awful. The direction is awful. It's so bad, I watched the same episode again just to make sure I wasn't screwing something up. No, I was right, this is terrible.

Romu made this for me. I felt things were much more focused and the soundtrack gave a very eerie feeling and just, this episode > the last one.

Knowing what was going to happen already, pretty much every scene involving both Shou and Nina was real creepy, and each close-up of Shou when he'd be either watching over them or whatever was just, you could see what his dilemmas were. The confrontion scene was incredibly well done, especially everybody's voice acting. Scar's introduction was freaking cool [always been a big Scar fan, haah~] and I can't wait to see the next episode. Judging from the trailer the animation's gonna ****ing kick.

this is good news. I don't care whether they remake the manga, I'm sure there'll be enough differences in the new series to attract fans and new fans.
