FullMetal Alchemist New Series 2009

Episode 5 was really good. Probably my favorite thus far. I like the pacing a lot better in this series than in the previous, even though the previous was one of my faves.

Episode 59 - wow munstag can't see anymore that's kind of sad. Also, why did father say he feared mustang's ability? I didn't know it was that strong.

I wouldn't say they are that outmatched. hoheimheim should be on par with father. And alphonse, Edward and pretty strong among with the others. Also, noticed anyone can join the fight in the beginning we might have thought it was on a different dimmension or something. I mean couldn't they just transfer him under why did they have to use alchemy? I don't get it.

Because the manga comes out monthly not weekly, meaning the anime would have to take breaks every few weeks to get a good adaptation that closely followed the manga. The manga started in 2001, the anime in 2003. The anime would have eventually caught up to the manga and end up diverging anyway.

There's also the fact that the mangaka, Hiromu Arakawa, originally wanted the anime to be different from the manga and not exactly the same thing.

The reason why this new FMA series might be a manga adaption is because the manga, based on what I've read, is almost over.

I only ask cause it could feel repetitive maybe but I am not sure yet cause I haven't watched much of Brotherhood cause my video is slow on some video sites.

That's pretty much it. Not only did the first anime diverge from the manga after around episode 25 or so, the later events totally contradict the manga in fundamental ways (the story behind the homunculi, for instance, is VERY different) that they couldn't just add on another season. It had to be remade from the beginning.

I do really recommend you guys pick up the manga, though, if you haven't. I loved the first series, own it on DVD, watched it all the way through. But I was reading the manga and re-watching the first series at the same time, and when the manga started to go in a different direction from the first anime, I dropped watching the first anime altogether. It just paled in comparison.

Episode 35

Major General Armstrong is one of the coolest characters of the show. I really like how strict and straight forward she is. Looking forward to next week to see what happens.

Truly this show is amazing. I was skeptical at first with this series but I have to say I think this is better than the original. The manga seriously must just be totally kick ass.

Roys voice change will take getting used to, but, it's an improvement for sure.

The animation upgrade is _very_ welcomed. Seriously, I started up the previous series earlier, and I'm not sad to see the change/ improvement.

The pacing is defenately better this time. When I first realized it would, start off at least, with retelling, i thought it would suck, but, it has proven me wrong, and I love the way it's going this time. I don't understand one thing about Tucker though. This time around, we saw Scar kill him. (didnt we?) Where as last time he was taken away and he reappeared later, in lab 5. So does that mean the who Lab 5 thing is diffrent in the Manga?

Just watched episode 59 and it was intense. I feel pretty bad that Mustang lost his vision through no choice of his own. Kinda cheap, but i think he'll get it back as soon as Al and Ed get their bodies back(if they get their bodies back that is).

I watched one episode of the new series. The animation quality might be better, but that's about it. This time around, the voice acting is totally awful, the characters are badly portrayed, and the music is off-putting. I am 100% disappointed in this new venture and would rather they have left well enough alone.

This episode was basically a filler. I don't know why they put the episode in place. Perhaps to draw people in.

It will go back to the manga storyline in episode two.

So far, looks great. I'm liking the first OP and ED of this series more than the first OP and ED of the last series. Hope this time, the ending won't be filled with 2 universes/nazis like last time.

I must be like a broken record in this thread, but this series is just awesome, not to keen on the new OP song, the actual footage of the opening was great though, looked really dark and gave us a few clues about what might happen, episode 51 was another high impact episode, we have Armstrong v Slouth going on, Ed, Scar and co v the Immortal army and Al who just took a philosophers stone v Pride and Kirablee, it's just getting epic now.
