FullMetal Alchemist New Series 2009

It was nice to see Lin gain control of his body again in episode 45, even if it was only for a little while, also nice to see Ed following Greed if you can call it that, I'm glad he is on the good side now, gotta feel bad for Alex, totally owned by his sister, at least it was for a good cause, and how stupid is May allowing Envy to trick her like that, baka!

If the first episode is filler or not I don't know as I haven't read the manga, and thats the defining factor. If these events were in the manga its no filler even if they put it out of order. It seems to be a trend recently that you must have loaRAB of action the first episode and then start the story the second episode. (the new Mazinger show did it as well, but it worked much better here)

On the show itself, first episode was good and all. I was never a huge fan of the first FMA, but it was a decent show overall. I'm interested to watch this though, and I hope they stick to the manga better as I want to see how this differ form the first show. (although I forgot most of that already) Hopefully this show appeal more to me then the first did and that they fix some of the flaws from the first series. (stop beating me over the head with the small jokes! I get it!)

Also, I'm surpriced not a single person here mentioned that Roy Mustang got a new voice actor. I though fans would go ballistic over that and be super pissed. Personally I think its great, Shinichiro Miki is one of my favorite voice actors and I think he can play the role just fine, no doubt he shown me that so far at the least. I guess many people will just miss Toru Okawa. He had a good voice and I can sort of understand if people miss him, but give Miki a chance please.

Considering how popular the first series was, they are clearly giving them fan service by showing of all the familiar faces and try to get a new audience hooked by the action. But I agree, its probably a bit to much with all these characters, but as the next episode will go back to the beginning it should work out in the end.

New superlong trailer! Apparently they're starting out with some filler in place of the Lior arc, which should be nice since that was kind of boring.

I just watched Episode 1. It was pretty good, animation quality was checked, artwork checked, and material is being starting up again.

However, was it me or did they just jump into the story a bit?

The stories are divergent by design. It's sort of one big filler if you want to call it that. But the manga's creator had some input.

But yeah, there's lots of speculation that the manga's storyline will be animated. I was wrong in saying that it was a definite thing.

ARg..... this episode pisses me off! I've rewatched FMA 2 weeks ago so i can easily compare the 2 and this re-make is just full of fail >.> Not only is Ed and AL's personalities a poor(not the same not better but POOR) copy of the original but the amount of time and effort used build the mother son relationship for Ed's mom before she died was Pathetic!, the viewers don't even care that their mom died therefore have no idea why its enough drive for Ed and Al to do human transmutation which is the entire foundation of the rest of the series >:|

i'm still watching it atm, at 8 minutes OMG the stupid gate design is sooo terrible :

Well I watched the 10th episode and it was disheartening. Hughes was one of my favorite characters in the show. I knew it was coming, I guess I was just hoping not this soon. I don't know where the original anime strayed off from the manga but it cant be to far as this show is moving at a pretty quick pace. I would assume the show will start to slow down after the stuff that has never been shown before starts.

IDK it seemd pretty cool to have your arms be a literal weapon when Edward had a blade sometimes when he attacked. I hope its ok to talk about the anime just in general and not specifically the new one. cause I have tendency to get off topic sometimes. And also I think this series made people wanna be alchemists even though I think alchemy is different then in this show.

the noise was ultra annoying but i just couldn't stop watching!! who was the bad guy? was he in the manga? or should i suppose from your post that he is a remake-anime only character?

Yeah but if he was able to I wonder what he would have to give up cause I forget the whole thing about it but don't you have to give up something to like doing what you are trying to do if that question makes sense?

I watched episode 48 and 49 at the same time as a double bill so to speak, amazing episodes, Hohenheim's power looks simply awesome and Al's plan to capture Pride using that power was top class, does anybody have any idea how many episodes this series will have?
