I got an older moto hooked up to cricket. Its not too old, its a T720. But for some odd reason, My phone refuses to work in various spots around town. I've got full signal bars, but I get no reception. No incoming, no outgoing, no text. Its like its dead, but I still got all my bars. Even shows the 1X logo. Anybody know what gives? Is this a network problem, or is my phone just screwed? I called tech support, but their option was to bring the phone to them. I know how that goes. They've toasted 2 phones already and claimed the phones were faulty......which is funny. They worked when I brought them in.

Well the phones didn't work when you brought them in for service otherwise you wouldn't be bringing them in for service.... But on a serious not, try the old *228 next time it stops working in a certain area, or before you get to an area you know it wont work and see if that helps.

I've tried the ole *228 trick. Its a no go. If I'm already in an area where it wont recieve then the 228 wont connect at all. Just like trying to make a call. It dials.....and redials..... then fails. I live just a mile or so from Nashville International Airport and it works at home fine, but 1/2 mile down the road closer to the airport I get nothing. 2 exits up the interstate, right beside the runway, it works fine. I go downtown, nothing. I go across the river to the otherside of downtown, works fine. I just dont get it. This is the first phone I ever had do this. And as for the 2 they toasted, I'll just say they worked better when they went in. One went in to get a new mic put in it and it come back with none of the buttons working. I was told the transciever board was fried, and the other went in for a software upgrade and got it back bricked with nothing but a black screen.

The same thing happened to me when I was with US Cellular. I finally made the connection that the problem was due to power lines causing interference. I could cinsistantly count on the same areas whlile driving by to give me full signla bars, yet be unable to make or recieve calls. Look for above ground and probably older power lines to be very close when you have this issue.

Great. Is there any way to fix this? I know I need a new phone, but just cant afford one right now. Anybody in the Nashville area got a cricket phone just lying around that works and wants to sell it cheap let me know. All I require is that its a flip phone. preferbly motorola. Doesnt even have to be a camera phone, just a flip.
