Full List of Oscar Winners

They were giving the Best Supporting Actor award at about 3am. I couldn't sleep so i just flicked it on, perfect timing really because it was the only award i cared about this year. Extremely glad that Heath won it, a very loud swear word would have erupted from my bedroom had it gone to anyone else, lol. The other performances are good and all, but nothing could touch The Joker this year, and i'm not just saying that because he's dead, because it truly was a magnificent, standout performance. Those that are saying otherwise are just kidding themselves and/or just enjoy being contrary to the majority.

I didn't agree with the way that 'Slumdog Millionaire' walked away with Best Picture though. Don't get me wrong, it's a good film but no way in hell was it Best Picture of the year material. In my personal opinion, out of the films nominated, it should have gone to 'Frost/Nixon' which was absolutely brilliant.

Really since when? I think his comment about commie homo loving sons of guns said a lot about how he is viewed in that world. A lot of people in Hollywood don't like Sean Penn. For all its pretence otherwise, it's not the most liberal of places. Its just that Mickey Rourke has probably pissed off more people.

Films with gay plotlines aren't really liked by the academy, I would have thought. That was the speculation after Brokeback Mountain lost to Crash anyway. The Wrestler is a sporting film. They do usually like that as long as it's a triumph over adversity shmaltzbag. Rocky anyone? The Wrestler was probably too subtle and not sentimental enough for them tbh.

EDIT: Totally agree about In Bruges though.

I was hugely disappointed that Waltz with Bashir didn't win best foreign film. I think it was one of the best films of last year in any category. My second choice The Class didn't win either:(

Otherwise I'm happy with most of the wins though I don't think Slumdog is a worthy best film winner. I also wish Davd Fincher had won best director.

yeah, but the point being made wasn't about the acting gong's but about the movie as a whole was recognised, and it widely accepted that Brokeback was robbed of Best Picture a few years back by the religious right zealiots in hollywood.

So the question is how could he and others fairly vote for Best Picture having refused to watch a film nominated that they clearly had pre-conceptions and prejudices about?

Lol...:D

yeah, I think that quite often you have one film that sweeps the board when really they should be spread around a bit more. mind you, at least this year the acting honours were not connected to the Best Film, which makes a bit of a change.

I'd have liked to see Frost/Nixon get the adapted screenplay award.

I didnt think Slumdog was worthy of all those Oscars

IMO best picture was BB

As for best actor, I think politics had a lot to do with that

Benjamin Button could have been a great film if it wasn't trying so hard to be a box office hit as well as a "serious" film, imo. I think the overall result was average, and was my least favourite of the nominees.
